Glad to hear that you have resumed riding.. hope you have fully recovered and your redone bike looks really nice.. may God keep you safe

Great to see!!! In a nutshell, what didn't have to be replaced on it?

I find it ridiculously astonishing how you can revive a bike damaged / burnt to that extent.

Good on you! And stay safe!

Wow... I never thought to see that bike up and running again..That's awesome Wilks!!!! Do you ride with Nomex gear and a fire extinguisher now???

wheels

Your back wheel was destroyed as I can recall so the front is still oz mag maybe painted to match the rear wheel which by my magnifying glass appears to be marchesini mag? I guess it works

The front is fine so replaced the rear with a magnesium Marchesini and painted the front one the same colour .

Congrats! Glad to see you on the track again, especially because the weather is starting to get awesome down under.

I have to ask what the total cost was, as I'm wondering what myself or anyone else here would be facing.

Did you have to replace any of the magnesium?

What kind of time wait on parts was there?

Sorry for all the questions....don't waste track time answering them...lol.

Cheers,

Cheers,

All the Magnesium was all good in fact all the essentials were fine . Parts are easy to get and available mostly out of Italy .
The bike here cost $45,000 plus setting it up as a race bike . The rebuild cost me between 15 to $20,000 at a guess .
It could have been cheaper if I wasn't fussy but I wanted the bike to be as good as new again with no evidence of it being crashed .

You off to Eastern Creek for BEARS this coming weekend ?

I might be able to get down there to see this machine in person.

cheers

Coming to a classified ad down under when the 1199 SL is available:
"For sale: 2013 1199R, low miles, original owner. Never down, as new condition" :D

Glad to see you back in action. Now spend a pittance on a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition so we can see the on-track action in 1080P 120 fps...
