I don't know what else the author would mean by "electric shifter." I can see how having a closer ratio would make shifting smoother, but the QS doesn't care. It just send a signal to the ECU when its activated.

New gearbox matches World Superbike ratios with a taller 1st, 2nd, and 6th gear. Reduced gaps between the first three gears encourage smoother up and down-shifting, makes life easier for the electric shifter, and improves accelerating and when entering a corner. The taller 6th gear permits a higher overall top speed relative to final drive gearing.

Wider ratios = possible longer ignition cuts and have to retard timing more to make shifts smoother. Closer ratios will unsettle the bike less

I thought they may have been talking about a gearbox redesign (not just the ratios).
From my understanding, there's no changes in the gearbox design. Just diffferent gears in the box. They probably improved the QS but we'll have to see it in person to see if that design has changed. Per reviews, no one had any issues with the QS but that could be down to the improved cooling. I've heard the 21 can be a little difficult at times.

Ah so you’re the resident QS tuning expert then? Please educate us.
I never claimed I was nor am I in here “dropping knowledge” on it either. I couldn’t give a .... really about the topic. I have a qs and it just works like I expect it to for the most part.

So what you’re saying is that I know more about QS than you. Your welcome that you know just a little bit more about them. I also stayed at a Holiday Inn. Your post was so enlightening and salient to this discussion

I'm not criticising you Brad, but you're better than this.

I mean if you’re going to get a dedicated track bike, why get a new 2022 V4 base? Just get a used 20-21 base and save a chunk of change (To spend on suspension, rearsets, body work).

The best things of the 2022 V4 are reserved for the S model like new fork and revised Ohlins EC 2. As a novice trackday rider, you most likely won’t notice the difference in power modes. About the only thing I can think of that would be beneficial over the 21 on the track would be the gearing changes.
Gearing would be swapped anyway. The thread pertains to the 2022 base or S, so why would i mention the other models?
I would imagine the power modes would not matter on the update as the bike would get programmed on a dyno. I'm not Rossi but nor a novice. To u se this bike the Electronic suspension would be tossed for competitive racing.
