Hi guys, sorry for the newbie question.

What exhaust slip on is in your opinion the best option. As probably everyone else I like it loud. Which slip on gives you the most grunt?

Also, I read about different settings. Not sure what slip on they talked about but I remember one guy was talking about a possible setting to bypass something for even more noise?

Anyone can help?

Thank you!

Yes, I only heard good things about the Termi's. how would you describe the difference in sound?

VA - does anybody near us have termis on their Pani? I haven't met anybody yet with termis and am waiting to hear them before deciding what to do. I have termis on my SF and the difference is night and day, but I am not convinced from what I have read that it makes that much of a difference on the Pani (from a sound perspective). She's fast enough for me with the stock pipes so it would purely be a sound thing if I decide to pull the trigger.

When I took mine in for the first service, side by side at idle and reving, they sounded nearly identical. Not too surprising as it is obvouis they worked very closely with Termi developing the exhaust.

If that's what I find out I'll be keeping my stock pipes. I have had 2 sets of termis in the past for different bikes, but those were models where the termis were a massive difference in sound (purring kitten vs. pissed off panther). I can't use all the power it puts out now so it wouldn't be a performance upgrade for me. I'll keep looking around and chase down the first person I see with termis for a side by side comparison.

On a Slip-on you don't have to many choices yet, Termignoni is a good choice if you don't want to mess with the tuning of the bike since they come with a tuned map for the ECU.
Competition Werkes also has a slipon now, Akrapovic has end of this month a Titanium Full System available that is very sweet but not cheap and there is the Austin Racing version as well.
The Termi slipon is only a hair louder then stock, the full system yet a little more then just slipon but neither are way way louder.

We took the stock exhaust and removed the flapper valve in it and it was the first time that a stock exhaust on a Ducati actually did sound good enough for me and I do like loud pipes but not pipes that make my ears ring all day long, if there would not be the bling factor missing.

You can also purchase a Bazzaz unit to tune the brand of exhaust that does not come with an ECU update but this is at an add. cost and takes some time.

If you want a simple bolt on with no tuning issues then the Termi is the best choice, if you don't mind messing with getting the bike tuned then you should look into the other brands.

GunnyFitz has Termi's on his tricolor. We met a couple of weeks ago but he has already put his bike up for the winter but I am sure will be out and about this spring. I am heading down to Hampton this coming weekend for a biker party but I only have the stock pipes.

I had no idea he was in our area. I am leaning toward not doing exhaust on this bike since it sounds like (especially shiftTech's last post) there isn't much of a sound difference with the slipons. As I said, I don't need the performance gain so anything up in the full exhaust category (3-5k) isn't likely to be worth it for just a burlier sounding exhaust. I'll wait and hear it in person and then go from there I guess.

That is what I thought. Besides the performance I was afraid the noise would not be much of a difference.

Thank you

Great feedback. Thank you. I have no idea about removing the flapper valve. Is that easy to do? Do you have a video of yours to hear it?

Do you find the videos helpful? Maybe my hearing is shot from doing too many loud things, but I can't tell a damn thing from the youtube videos of exhausts. I need to hear them in person. I'll never forget the first time I heard a D16RR in person. Holy smokes - you can't capture that on youtube.

Yes I agree but it gives you an idea. Describing a sound is very difficult

T's

Fellow member here Shawn can testify to this first hand.
He had stock cans on his, and after hearing my Termi slip ons (which obviously come with the Tri) he went that route instead of dropping mad money on the full system which is still steel instead of Ti or whatever that is that Austin Racing uses which sounds cool. :D

There is DEF a difference in sound guys. Not much but some. And as stated earlier there are not many choices to pick from anyway. Some love the Akra full system or Austin Racing full. I personally do NOT like either, nor the Competition Werkes one either which is plain nasty. Hopefully other brands will evolve which give you an option, but until then I will say that Termi has this award hands down right now. :D

There is no frigging way I'd drop 4k plus on a full system AND THEN have to add an ECU to get the damn thing to run properly, forget that!
If you are made of money to burn then go for what is producing the best numbers in a full system and what you like best in looks. Or wait for Arrow and other prominent brands to put something out for this bike which not only looks cool but produces something for you noise freaks and performance enhancement. My slip ons are just fine where they are now.

ok well there are a few options but as Gunny said are you looking to pay 4600 (list price anyway) for the AKRA TI full system then have to get 2 other tuners (power command and auto tuner for 700 dollars more) to get the bike to run better? Thats crazy. Austin racing to me is plain ugly so is comp werks. The only option is termi slip ons which by the way outperforms the full system and is half the price. Also you get the perfomance ecu and continuing up maps. So if you dont get termi you have to go through more steps to retune your bike once ducati releases more up maps. Termi isnt my favorite choice AKRA is but they dont offer slips and the convince with termi is undeniable.

To me there are 2 choices
1 leave stock
2 termi slips.
Everything else is a waste of money.

For 5000 you can get a used 600 to use on the track give me a break.

Exactly.

IMO: I think Ducati got the stock exhaust right this time. Sounds, looks and more importantly works great.
Would I prefer Akras, yep, but the cost is ridiculous for me.

Totally. I do wish the finish was better on the stock. :( But there is no justification for the additional money, unless you are racing and maxed out your abilities on the stock, and need the extra umpf to win.

I am not saying justification is required, just there isn't any :D

would it be good to say with even with the new upmap would the full system be worth buying on termis? or still rought same result as the slip on?
