They all joined recently (Nov 20 the oldest) have no threads or very few etc., and will not accept Paypal
I hadn't used this forum in a long time, it is hardly recognizable

Well there you go, anyone not willing to use PayPal is basically wasting your time.

also the so-called new forum – Ducati modified looks like it’s been started by ex user BMW Alpina Who packed a sad and chucked his toys out of the cot after trying to start a shopping channel here

Yes, recently ran into the same thing on another forum. One guy only would use Zelle then when my Sister who was doing the transaction for me contacted the email he sent me to get a contact number the woman said she had no clue about it. One other guy I found out took a photo from Ebay site for Italy and sent it to me trying tot sell me forks. Also same thing happened ot me, as soon as I posted a thread to buy I received a ton of responses. Glad I didn't send any money yet ot anyone.

You mean a list of members that take yer money and then don’t send ya the parts?
Yes a list of members who take your money and dont send parts. But the list of members who say they will send parts in an agreement. Not a list of members who agree to send parts and then the other party decides to go out and buy totally different parts which are more expensive than the parts the were supposed to receive FOR FREE because the part numbers that were supposed to be send FOR FREE WOULDNT HAVE FIT. Yet the brand new parts that they were sold arrived. So you can start a list of your own as well.

I can agree to this, just got scammed by someone saying they have rear passenger seat for sale. My mistake for paying closer attention to their profile history...just watch out. Scammers seems to be very active on these Ducati board. Got another 2 PM after from different scammers trying to pull the same thing

Yeah BMW Alpina was definetely on here to cause nothing good for this board pretty sure him and few his cronies followed him along so no loss thats for sure.

Is that why you never sent them? You think 1299 steering head bushings won’t fit in a 1199?
Did you tell me you had them? Did you tell me you would send them if I bought the exhaust? Where are they?

Lol big willi mo sent me a message too.Too obvious when its a scam.

Did you tell me you had them? Did you tell me you would send them if I bought the exhaust? Where are they?
You bought brand new IMA adjustable trees. You bought a brand new exhaust. Did you get them from me? Yes you did. I told you I would send you my old top and bottom steering pucks FOR FREE. Then I said I couldnt find one. So I said I would send you one and buy you another. I have those text messages saved unlike you. I accidently sent the FREE USED PUCK to the wrong address. It came back to me and when I told you that it came back you had already ordered 2 brand new puck for you bike and DEMANDED that I send you $200. Dude the FREE PUCKS that I was going to send you but only had one and was willing to buy another one only cost $54.95 each because the top and bottom are exactly the same and the part #'s are for a 1299. Your crazy A$$ went out and bought 1199 pucks which have 2 totally different part #'s and cost $200 while the 1299 ones are the same part # for the top and bottom.

Furthermore you lunatic. I told you I would try and help sell the brand new exhaust you bought from that was shipped directly from Vandemon to you. I made a post for sale about a Vandemon exhaust which had nothing to do with your exhaust. Yet you decided to make some nasty A$$ comments that day thinking I was selling your exhaust. By the was you were trying to sell your exhaust for $500 above of what I sold it to you for. And got angry I was selling another exhaust for $250 less than what you were selling it for. Mind you I had your exhaust sold that day. However I didnt read that post yet that day . But sent you about 10 texts saying the exhaust was sold and that you werent going to lose a freaken dime. Then I saw the post you made about me and called your loony A$$ out. And then I understood why you never responded to my texts telling you that I sold your exhaust to another member. Well after readying your stupid comment that day I said screw it Im ordering that dude an exhaust from Vandemon and make less on since the price gave him was the price I sold it to you for on black friday. He also knew it was an open box. Yet trusted me that it was brand new. Now you can attempt to call me a liar. But if you do Ill take screen shots of all our conversations which Im sure you have also and post them here. And on top of that you went to a member to try to make me look like scammer? You didnt have the balls to do it here because you ordered $3000 in brand new parts from me and got $3000 worth of brand new parts from me in less than 6 days. And I have the proof you received those parts. Oh and tell them that you trusted me enough to send me the payment through paypal as FRIENDS AND FAMILY OR I CAN TAKE A SCREEN SHOT OF THAT. And you got those parts. But you make a big stink to another member about some old worn out pucks that I said I would send and set it to the wrong address by mistake. Then told you I did and apologized through text. And the phone calls at 1am, 2am 230am werent any better. Tell me that Im lying when you never responded to my texts with the exception of the picture of the 1199 pucks you bought after I said your exhaust was sold. Go ahead try telling people here Im lying. Hey you have the texts also. So post them. Let people see what was said between us. I was going to keep this quiet until your cycloptic A$$ kept going on and on about this and then I find out to day that you told a forum member to stay away from me because you didnt get a part. What you forgot to mention to him was that the part I said id send you was free and 5 years old. You never paid me for it and I was still willing to pay an additional $54.95 for a second one because I said you would get two. If you didnt handle yourself like a little man child we I wouldnt have to write all this crap up.

Totally agreed I had two people on here trying to scam me into buying a triple tree and the ignition assembly.

DO NOT buy from members who just joined and barely have no posts.
ASK FOR PICS. I almost paid for the ignition assembly until the scammer sent pics. The pics were from an ebay auction from a random dude.

I don't think this is a fair assessment. Not ALL members who have just joined are scammers.

As a few have pointed out, best to use PayPal and choose the "Goods & Services" option. That way, in a case where there's any disagreement, you can reach out to PayPal and they will refund you the money. Then, they will go after the seller.

Furthermore, you can add an extra layer of security through PayPal by using your CC. Now, you will be able to use PayPal & your CC service to compensate you AND investigate the seller.

If you're buying from a person in another state, NEVER, EVER, use Venmo or any other payment app that doesn't have security features. I've purchased randomly from members in Europe and Asia this past year, but always used PayPal. If they had a problem with the fees they'd incur from PayPal's service, I would include an additional 3% on top of the total amount, that way it covers what PayPal will take. At the end of the day, if the seller is willing to send you the item, then it's always nice to at least offer the additional 3% to cover them on their end--they're doing you the courtesy when they don't have to. Win win situation--seller gets paid, buyer gets item.

Good luck!

Not true. I've met people that actually have never even heard of PayPal, believe it or not. These are usually the older folks.

Other times, it's people that don't want to get charged the fees that PayPal adds. I mentioned this in an earlier response, but what I do for sellers that have a problem with the 3% charge from PayPal is, I offer an additional 3% on top of the total. That way, they know they'll get 100% of the money they were asking for AND you (as the buyer) agreed to.

Sometimes sellers won't accept the added 3%, but that's okay too. We're all entitled to sell our parts to whom ever we want to, AND be able to accept ANY FORM OF PAYMENT we want to.

I've only used the "Friends & Family" option on PayPal a handful of times in the past years with strangers. However, I would look at their seller rating. And if the forum didn't have this feature, I would just do a quick search on Google using their member name. If I found other posts or other forums that had ratings, then I'd feel more 'safe' to purchase that way. In the past 15 years, I think I got scammed 2x. But this small response from me is just offering an alternative from my bad experiences.

What's even more funny is sometimes buyers negotiate with sellers. Sellers end up reducing sale price a little bit. Difference between posted price and negotiated price is ALWAYS a larger gap than just eating the cost of the 3% PayPal charges. Simple solution is sellers should incorporate that 3% into their sale price without having to mention it. Oh, you're willing to let it go for as little as $100 as friends and family payment? Cool. Post it for sale for $105 rock bottom price. Potential problem avoided.

Can't believe some sellers and buyers are cheap as .... and have the need to mention paypal fees in the first place when their bikes cost an absurd amount as is. You're probably already getting whatever you're buying at a discounted price anyway. What the hell is an extra few bucks whether you're paying it, buyer or seller. Just ridiculous.

Lmao a lot of members on this thread really like to take ONE scenario they've dealt with, and act as if that's what happens ALL THE TIME. Every situation is different, every seller is different, and every buyer is different.

To your point, you are correct about one thing. If the seller has a FIRM price on an item, then it's best practice to include the added 3% charge when the buyer uses PayPal. However, in some circumstances, the buyer can be willing to be Flexible on the "firm" price. Therefore, if they drop the price, then they would either need to A) ask the buyer to add the 3% to cover fees, or B) the seller would have to be courteous to offer it.

In any case, we are going back to the point of this thread--scammers. This 3% added to cover fees is not the problem, it's a supplement to the solution. Compromise on both parties is the best word I can think of in these circumstances.

I’ve contacted the forum host to get me in touch with the person who runs it.

fingers crossed
