Bmw hp4

I don't know how some of you think the HP4 looks like a mess. It looks badass and I bet given the chance every single one of you would own one if money were no object.

The pani looks great as well. Unfortunately most of us can only afford one bike and as soon as you buy it you have to talk shit about the one you didn't buy to make yourself feel better.

Don't worry, happens with owners of all bikes not just ducati.

Just get what you like and appreciate the plethora of cool bikes you have to choose from.

i disagree,
the S1kRR was also available on the market, so if you are in the market, you get to compare the 2 before making the decision. even last year when i was debating between the 848 Evo and the CBR1000RR, the S1kRR NEVER comes across me as a choice, the thing is just not appealing to me.
"as you buy it you have to talk shit about the one you didn't buy to make yourself feel better" - please keep this to yourself, this is absolutely not the case for me, i have high respect and desire for the RSV4, F3 and the RC8R and would never talk them down just because i dont own them.

BMW is a great bike, so are the jap bikes really. But there is no escaping the art, beauty and exotic nature of italian design (yes, German ownership, but still Italian design and feel). I could compare a Hugo Boss suit to an Armani or Brioni. Hugo Boss looks great, excellent materials, excellent suit and will likely outlast the Italians. But with regards to style great looks, I'd rather have the Italian suit. It actually bothers me that there are so many head to head match ups and ride comnparisons, and the reviewers only give lip service to the intangibles of style, beauty, sound and how you feel riding it. And hell, there's even value of having that something that is just a little different. And I'm not a track guy, so feel and love for it actually outmatch PURE performance issues, not that such things are unimportant.

No thanks on a BMW. I have 4 bikes and none are a BMW 1000. I like many of their bikes but the 1000 is not one of them b/c of it's appearance. So, no I would not take one if money was not an issue

Let me put it in a nice was:

Ducati is typical Italian. No offense, Ducati is lIke Italians dressed up & lot of perfume, but when they open the mouth only shit comes out.

Wow a real academic:rolleyes: Do you own a motorcycle factory?

oh I dunno, whenever I open up my 1199, both insane speed and a head-turning exhaust note come out. Too bad BMW could only manage one of those ;-)

ummm yeah, definitely better than Angela.... :)

let me jump in here, monica has never been a president of italy, and angela, well she's just a puppet like barack and all the others :D

talking of the HP4 you might better refer to this famous german actress in a certain genre:

"gina wild"

From what I've read here most ducasti are more than capable of owning both.

I wish I did. I historically have always kept just one at a time. :)

But my second wouldn't be the BMW (until they redesign it's aesthetics). But it is quite a nice bike.

I'd more likely go with the '13 hyper for a commuter during hot summer months. Don't know why, but I only just started liking the hyper when I saw pics of this new one coming.

Maybe next year.....

Here's mine....

I have to tell you guys.... I love my Panigale, but this HP4 is freakin amazing.

I could only put 75 miles on her, but wow this thing rocks. It is so smooth and effortless to ride hard.

HUGE difference vs my Panigale S.... Can't even compare them. It's horrible weather here the rest of the year, but this thing is pretty damn sweet for a BMW.

Pictures do not do this thing justice. The blue is amazing. I got the comp model wit all the carbon fiber.

Nice stable you got there.

........ and I do not doubt the dynamic excellence of the HP4.

Congrats on your purchase! I'm sure it's an amazing performer, however it's a bit busy with all that blue for my taste. Also, I wish BMW would have gone with a shortly AK slip-on :(

That bike visually would be SOOOOOO much more appealing if both sides matched...

And NO I'm not picking fun...being honest.

(if the left side of the bike was on both sides, left side being the left clutch lever side)

Quote from Duckyduc: if i want a fast/reliable/sensible appliance, the BMW make sence, but if i want THE ONE that make my heart race or skip a beat, then there is no substitute for the Panigale.

Sold my 2011 S1000RR to get the 1199 Panigale "S". Honestly, the BMW S1000RR never gave me any problem nor recall issues. She ran great all the time, Damn reliable Bike! Fast? It was the Fastest, stongest most powerful top-end bike I ever owned...

The BMW S1000RR's over-all design is the reason I sold it for the Panigale. The BMW didnt look good but it ran fakin awesome! Panigale handles better than my 2011 s1000RR but I never tested the 2012 S1000RR nor the HP4. So this comparison on handling is based on the '11 BMWs1RR and '12 1199. 1199 does handle better, more flickable, lighter, simply looks stunning and sounds better!

I have "hard starting" and the "heat" issues with my Panigale "S"...but aside from those 2 issues, the bike really makes my heart skip a beat when I ride it...no regrets switching from the BMW s1RR to the Panigale "S"...

Now, the new BMW HP4 may be a different issue.....hmmmmmm...I sure dont wana test one...as it may be far better than the '11 model I had...

I'm very happy with my Ducati 1199 Panigale and will enjoy her for years to come....maybe until BMW designs a better looking race rep...then maybe, just maybe...

I completely agree with you.

IMO, it was a good opportunity to stick on an endurance style single headlight cowl ...... I wouldn't have been fussed which one they kept and which they closed either :p

we ride on feel.
i owned a gixxer and prefer the gixxer k7 over the s1000rr k11
based on looks..

i have rode both rsv4 and s1k and rsv4 still has my eyes over this.

it mite be reliable street easy ride / powerful beast
but when i look and hear it. it doesnt even get my heart beat goin.

back when kawa (200hp) or other japs had the most HP beast did we all talk about that?
so whats the difference with this? same inline 4 boring plain.
it does everything ok but doesnt excite.

Sorry guys, but this only represents gearbox gearing.

If we pay some attention to the video, we can listen to the S1000RR reving up to the red lline and speed still increasing.

What does this mean?

Well, the rear tyre was spining on the dyno roll.

On the real world they may behave very diferently then we are seeing here.

My guess is, S1000RR faster on a straight line and the Panigale is faster on the twisties.

Both are great bikes, but for me only the HP4 would make me thinking on buying one instead of Panigale.

Enjoy more the bike that you have choosen, and don't care about the brand or model.
Nowadays all the bikes are pretty close in engine performance or handling.

One thing is for sure, not matther what bike we own, we are wellcome to this site, cause we all have one thing in comon.

We love bikes.

Ride safe and enjoy your bikes! :)

when i got my 1199 i was on the fence and almost went to the bmw s1000rr i can tell you if this was out and the same money i would have gotten the hp4

little john your probably right. i guess im just annoyed that i needed 2 new fairings already. bottom left due to melting and top left started splitting . both were warrantee items and i had to fight for the oil viewer but i got that too.

Hey i still get the most looks i mean a guy on a desmo stopped and was loving my bike i was like dude you got a desmo i should be doing that to you

Can you enlighten me on the oil viewer? I have not heard of this. I will just add one thing to this discussion. I too was after an S1000 before the pani came out. It seemed like the dealer was never open when I could get there. They were open till like 5(but I have a job) and sat till like noon. As soon as I saw the pani I fell in love. It is by far the sexiest and most exotic looking. I agree, they could have offered some things, and the HP4 is an attractive platform for the $, but I would not change anything if I had it to do over again. Except maybe hold out for the R.
