Borescoped my Panigale 1199 and Monster 750

Just inspected the cylinders on a Panigale track bike with 15k miles and my old M750 with 34k miles. Found some "interesting" things on both engines 😄

I'm surprised how high the resolution on these small cameras is now - one of the borescopes I used is 1920p. The image on these things used to look barely usable. You can see the valve seat wear using one now!

Does the first bike you scoped have a coolant or oil leak into the combustion chamber?
 
The 1st bike is the '99 Monster 750. The exhaust reeks of hydrocarbons - looks like oil is getting past the valve stem seals and/or piston rings. The valve guides are definitely a little loose too...

Pretty insane how much carbon's on that exhaust valve.
 
Ahh, air cooled so no coolant leak.

The carbon build up on the piston looks wet, which isn't good, to the point some of the carbon is being cleaned off.
 
Yeah, it needs a leak down test and likely a rebuild lol. That bike had been run pretty hard even before I picked it up
