Only issue I have with these is that it is going to be harder to tell when your brake fluid starts to discolour/absorb contaminants or water. I have the Rizoma elliptical billet reservoirs which are admittedly a more expensive option yet allow you to easily see the levels and colour of the fluid.

that's why i'd try to stay with the clearest containers possible... smoked looks really cool but doesn't make sense to me.

Agreed. In general I would replace the fluid way before that. If I track that bike, usually will bleed every 6months. If I don't , every 1-1.5years. I don't wait till fluid gets dark. Rear usually gets darker faster since it is so close to the exhaust and sees a lot more heat. But who really use the rear brake that much.
 
I disagree, I know these are smoked, but surely you have just as much chance to see changes in the fluid with these as you do the stock/opaque option.....

Why else would other bikes come out of the factory with them if it was going to create problems?
 
Topolino, Phl, crazyinp: I'm with you. I really like the dark fluid containers. But I did not switch on any of my bikes. I prefer the clear one's. Coloration and opaqueness of the fluid is an indicator to me when it's time to replace/flush the fluid myself. I don't do it time-dependant, but if think I can see that it is time to do it.

I kept the OEM containers and just switched the caps to CNC milled ones for bling factor.

If you checkout what's done in racing business: They install the cheapest ones. These are light, simple to replace and you'll see what's going on with the fluid.

Way much "added value" to replace the tubing with clear ones (e.g. Tygon tubes, Brad51 is the guy who has a lot of experience with these tubes). Makes flushing 10x easier.

You beat me to the punch. When I saw Topolino's post I thought the solution is just to fit the clear tubing. You can then have the smoke reservoir but still see the natural colour of the fluid. Best of both worlds.

I had some CNC but went back to OEM when I became fanatical about weight loss. I removed the rear reservoir and just have a clear tube on there now.

Gecko is correct. When bleeding the brakes you can actually see small air bubbles in the line rise up into the reservoir.
 
Ordered these online from KurveyGirl and received them within a week (standard shipping). All looks good and not anticipating any issues with install.

For those who replaced them on your own, does this require you bleed the lines after? That's something I've never done before. If anyone has a really great YouTube how-to they care to share, I may attempt it myself at some point.
 
Yes, you have to since you will most likely introduce air into the system. It is perfect time to do it when you bleed your brakes

I was kind of scared too the first time but its super easy. Just search on youtube and theres tons of videos.
 
Sorry guys, gotta disagree about the fluid color difference. These arent smoked as much as you are reading into it. You can completely see the caramel color even with the smoke. If it was that difficult why does Ducati put these on other models and Kawasaki put them on their Superbike....

What's special about the clear Tygon tubes? Do you think we should be replacing our stock black tubes with Tygon?
