Brighter integrated rear turn signals

the brighter the better

No way...did we actually make it back to the turn signal discussion?!

DON'T TELL STW! Daddy might think we're all growed up.

This may not keep cops from finding an excuse to pull you over, but seems like the signaling power of any of the integrated tail lights are a joke.

Mine are...so attack it from another angle. I put Oberon bar end signals on, to make it obvious when I'm turning.

If they're gonna pull you over, they're gonna pull you over......ya know, blinker fluid leaking, unnecessary display of bling, excess display of heat

These things light up like nobody's business. 8 bright LEDs visible from both front and rear (takes care of my missing mirror/signals,too)

Turn signals are optional in GA. Though if you have them, they have to work.

Plate placement will get you in trouble here. Most jurisdictions (I think it's state law) require that the license plate be located to the rear of a vertical line/plane of the rear axle. So some of them (like CW) aren't legal here. Though I admit that I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for a license plate that's too far forward of the rear axle.

Am I seeing that right? The rear turn is part of the rear tail light?

My getting the Intergrated CW signals was dependent on getting Oberon signals too as they aren't bright enough by themselves.

Now all you have to worry about is getting a ticket for NO mirrors. ;)

Yes, but my buddy that was riding with me has those and the officer commented that he never signaled either. The third rider in my party has stock "huge" signals and he's the only one the office saw signaling. Of course, he was in the back and I don't know how the officer could see me signaling with two bikes blocking his view.

Here in South Africa I would have seen the Senior State Prosecutor and would have discussed the situation with him/her. That would have meant the end of that ticket.

I have CW integrated turn signals too and think they are just fine.

in new york you see a bureaucrat fake law judge that determines everything guilty

I had a few different CW products on my 2011 R1 and they were great quality, shame the 1199 parts aren't as good.

Regarding the tail light, is the "e-code" tail spoken about in this thread any better or brighter? If so is this it, or where can it be found?

I've always liked the Oberon bar-end indicators, but never mounted them on a bike. Were you able to use the OEM clip-on bars to fit them?

Also, a question about the Dion Device brake lever guard: if you turn your handlebars all the way to the left (as in making a left U-Turn) does it hit your nose fairing? From the picture it looks like your handlebars are straight and there is very little room between the Dion Device lever guard and the fairing cutout.

security guard at barny's lame attempt at being funny. so you pull the race card typical lib dem thats standard operating procedure. so why am i racist cause i am against the redistribution of wealth? against the whole obama agenda or cause i think people should reasonably fend for themselves? read the quote by abe lincoln . you know the pres that freed the slaves unlike the dems. the same dem party that was totally against the civial rights movement. the same party that had clansmen in it till about 5 years ago when robert byrd died. Dems are no friends to minorities

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." --Abraham Lincoln

first the guy that wrote the booklet was from 1916, i am pretty sure Mr. Lincoln was president before 1916 so who is to say lincoln never made those quotes. you and snopes?
second if he didnt make the quotes (which is fine i dont really care if he said it or not they are still very true)
Third i didnt get the quote from the source that you claimed but thats ok
Fourth if you want to bring up things that people said or didnt say try this

In NY, and most states, any motorcycle built after 1985 MUST have turn signals front and rear, and hand signals do not negate them. That being said, NY's law doesnt define how bright or placement. While that may sound good, it actually leaves it to the judgement of the cop as to whether they can be seen adequitely. Also, all motorcycles after 1967 must have one mirror.Tail light must be seen from 300 ft.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my question. I understand how the political arguments started, but I agree with the majority of the members that this is not a political forum.

I don't mind paying for tickets. I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal or being told I'm dangerous. I've never hit anyone or caused an accident in nearly 30 years of driving.

Enough of the politics. Thank you NOLA for sharing your NRC turn signal license plate bracket solution. I think this is probably the best idea and I will give it a try.

I also will be using hand signals, and I have already pulled over and let a cop pass me since this last incident.

Thanks again to everyone.

Cool, no problem. Its supposed to rain here Thurs and Fri. I will try and install it then. I have been totally riding everyday because of the bad ass weather, and just have neglected taking the tail apart to install it. Tonight I am going to make a video clip with the CW flashers at night, then after the install make a video with the NRC unit. Should be a noticeable difference. Warm weather is ending. Not happy.

answer to JeffD's Oberon & Dion Device questions

I've always liked the Oberon bar-end indicators, but never mounted them on a bike. Were you able to use the OEM clip-on bars to fit them?
Also, a question about the Dion Device brake lever guard: if you turn your handlebars all the way to the left (as in making a left U-Turn) does it hit your nose fairing? From the picture it looks like your handlebars are straight and there is very little room between the Dion Device lever guard and the fairing cutout.

The Dion Device necessitated race clip-ons (stock clip-ons ~< 1/4" too short), so never tried Oberon bar-end indicators on stock clip-ons. Either way, Oberon doesn't have threaded inners.

About the Dion Device clearance, if I turn the bars left really hard, I can just barely make contact with the front fairing. Here's what me and Chris Chandler (Nu Concepts Audio--Sacramento, CA) did:

1. Race clip-ons (MotoWheels)
2. Roll the clip-on forward so that the brake lever/Dion device are tilted down a hair.
3. Position the Dion device on the clip-on so the the middle concave portion of the lever fits into the nook on the upper fairing (where the optional winglets (fairing extensions) go).

If you want to fit the Dion Device on a stock clip-on, you might try an aftermarket starter (narrower).

PS 2013RedSabs & Nitrouz:
About the "no mirrors" and "free pass," look at the tail pics (p.71 of Panigal Picture Thread). REAR-VIEW CAM with LCD screen up front.

Gotta hope they see 'em better than you guys. :D

Here are some pics: (bars turned far left)

I thought you might. Wasnt sure from the pic. Smart to have something. How easy is it to see rearview with the lcd on sunny days?

I believe hand signals are still legal in all fifty States. If there's a cop on your 6, show him a hand signal when turning or changing lanes during daylight hours. No bike mods required.

Hand signal will get you out of ticket for failure to signal, but you will still get a ticket for not having turn signals. Follow the link I posted, it is from the NYS troopers site. The bust the guys with the custom Harleys all the time. Most states require the turn signals, and while hand signals are exceptable, you still get ticketed for an "equipment violation". Basically if the bike came with it, it has to be there. The cops somehow aren't interested in the fact that these safety devices that also allow others ( who are likely to not see you and run you over) to see you, are ugly and we need to remove them. ;),

well... this thread didn't last long.... :)

BTW, is anyone experiencing excess heat coming from the back of the bike?
