Hello guys

I am new to the forum.
I am about to buy a Panigale 1299 Final Edition.

Being a collector item, what should I have from the seller as a MUST HAVE to retain its value?
Are the DDA Key and DDS map key a must or can these be collected after?
Are two keys a must or can it be copied?
Anything else?

Thanks a lot!

While I agree that’s what the bike is for he started right out with “collectors bike” and “value retention” neither will benefit from “riding the piss out of it” get a nice piece of carpet and put it in the living room.

Yep get out the carpet pad for the living room and get hold of Howard over at Ducati Modified he will give you the low down on collectors bikes.

Haha!
Guys help me out here!
I want to buy this and need to know what are the items I should ask (other then the bike):
2 keys, DDA, Ducati underwear, ...

in other words what is usually sold with the bike new, other then the vehicle?!

thanks!

Yes anything Ducati branded you can get your hands on will help but as far as OEM stuff that ships with the bike, I think your list covers it except for maybe a plaque or something. And I wasn’t being sarcastic with the “carpet in the living room” comment. If you really intend to maintain resale/ collectors value obviously the less it is used, the more perceived value it will retain.

1299rFE, how many miles do you have on yours?

What if they don’t have anything of those items? Only the keys.
Is that an issue or expensive to get all these things after wards?

You can probably get all that from the dealer, considering the cost of the bike in the first place, cost for those items shouldn’t be an issue.

A lot of extras can be negotiated. I got a couple of Ducati hats, a jacket, wheel stands, thrown in with my purchase. I would look for items with the same era graphics and design elements. I would not bother with just anything that says Ducati, like a Scrambler jacket or something. That's not going to help I would guess. A bigger thing that comes to mind for a collection would be things you will need to hunt down. Racer's photos with autographs that achieved something on that bike for example will be important. I'm not an expert at this though. I like to ride the rubber off my bikes.

If in 10 years, I find you and want to buy it, I'd pay extra if you got Troy Bayliss V2 champion, to burn the .... out of the rubber to the edges though. And I'd want the video of that. (Wishing him a full recovery.)
That's just me though. Hellz ya, I'd pay a lot more for that. Leave it dirty.
If you get Cassey Stoner V4 champ, a signed post card would be nice, but like $5. nice.
If you get J. Lorenzo 5 times world champ, Ducati winner to ride it, I will personally come over there and ..... slap you silly because you should have never let that little .... touch it.(kidding)
That's just me though.
If you get Valentino Rossi, 9 times world champ ex-Ducati desperate to sign it, I'm sure you could get 10% more for it later. That's a tough memory for him though. You might have to pay him a lot for that. hahaha

i got a Corse Wind screen, along with those items listed in your post.
You should also get an official piece of paper that describes the bike along with the number of the machine you own

I track mine a few times a year, ride it on the street time to time:
I have 1700 miles on mine.
My intent is to use it, not pile tons of miles on it, but enjoy the bike for what it is. The Pinnacle of a L2

Interesting. What is that piece of paper called? Is that a authenticity certificate or something like that? A Golden sealed paper haha!?

Yes with Claudio's signature on it.
It I believe someone posted it under a thread i started about production numbers on these bikes.

Those motors are a single compression ring configuration just like the SL. Is there anyone here who has any miles on a 1299SL or FE? 1299rFE I’m assuming your bike is a 2017? So that’s roughly 425 miles a year is that accurate?
