You can't go wrong with the AGV Pista helmets or ARAI Carbon. I just recently picked up the AGV Pista VR Soleluna Monster edition (thanks to DoubleO for talking me into it). I had the original NEXX XR1R hemet its a good helmet with excellent Visibility and air flow. Here are my CF Helmets collection:

@ScrapperX

I have a AGV Pista and ARAI Carbon too----my others are just Schubert ´s.

You have that special double Visor for the RX RC.
Where do i find it ? could not find on the net -- is it possible to go fast with that??

thanks

I got mine from Revzilla. I have no issue going fast with the visor up. That was my first concern but its no problem at all.

Another light weight carbon helmet you might want to check out is the Shark Racer R Cabon Pro. It weighs in at 1250g which is lighter than the Icon and has a 5 star SHARP rating. Obviously the fit has to come into play on which works best for you. I picked mine up on eBay for just over $500. I use it as my track helmet and love it! If it's good enough for Tom Sykes and Sylvain Guintoli then it's good enough for me! :D

I have two of these helmets they are excellent .

So I'll be honest with you, I've gone for the Icon. Mainly because I want to try something new/different from the rest, see what it's like. My main problem is that I couldn't see it in person/try it on

However, I emailed Icon directly. They were back to me within an hour or so. Had a discussion around sizing etc. and were really helpful.

So I've ordered a small shell but with a smaller/thinner liner to allow more room inside as I was almost bang on in between sizes, plus it will allow me to tailor the fit and fine tune it.

I'll give you a run down when I get it and try it on, sleep in it etc.

Nexx Carbon for sure. Almost as light as the AGV pista and one third of the price. Also has the largest viewing window of any helmet i tried on.

How's the build quality on the Nexx compared to other helmets you have owned? Looks like a sweet helmet.

True Comfort!

Just saw the new Bell Star Carbons at the bike show... They will produce a couple of levels of carbon helmets, and they look amazing. They won't be hitting the market for a couple of months, but they might be worth the wait.

As an owner of both the Arai Corsair V or whatever Roman Numeral it is AND the Bell Star Carbon Cerwinske model - which IMHO is a top notchlid that I have never, ever felt as much airflow thru as this! Granted, with such ventilation comes the sacrifice of noise and to me its a fair swap for the features Bell has produced for their Star lineup! For instance - I realize now that other Companies are coming out with their own "Transition Type Faceshield" but Bell set the bar on this and i don't think there was a better invention made that enables one to use just ONE facesheild 24/7 without worrying about changing them out for that late evening ride home in the dark! And for someone who has photophobia, that thing gets plenty dark enough for me on a regular sunny day and provides users that perfect go between on colors or using sunglasses! So to me- the Bell is the one I reach for every time rather than the Arai- EXCEPT when looking to do some VERY high speed runs out there!! The Arai stays put without riding up on me hitting triple digits and is a super tight lid for this purpose I assume. Enough Said on my end. Love to see what they have going for this 2016 year though I havent ridden more than 7 miles last year due to other physically incapable reasons :(

Good thread and as the biggest Carbon Fiber lover on this forum - Im quite sure many of the old timer crew can attest to this (And of course in the dripping wet glossy finish over that flat plastic look of matte!) ;)

Just my 4 cents for the day, week, and month since lately I am more MIA than ever on this forum, the absolute BEST on the net IMHO! Stay safe my friends! OOHRAH !

Gunny

PS. Couple more shots of a Shoei X-11 and HJC Carbon I used as well.
**Anyone recognize that American Flag bike Im on there? :D

I've been using this helmet at the track for 3 years with 0 issues. Snap lock system is simple and effective. Personally I would wait to see what the bell star pro line looks like before you buy but that won't even be hitting ads until August. And it won't be cheap. Nexx Carbon you can get for around $450 or less brand new with a tinted shield.

Yeah, I've seen the race star and pro star in person at a motorcycle show. Looks great, but I couldn't try them on. Nexx sounds good as well now.

As long as the helmet exceeds snell 2015 standards it's a good helmet
If the helmet does not meet at least the 2010 standard

DONT BUY IT

I just got a 2015 bell star carbon in matt with the transistions shield. I really like this helmet. The difference between it and my tired old hjc ac12 carbon is like night and day. Coming from an older (and cheaper) carbon fiber helmet, it feels like nothing is on my head.
