CDT/Full Six carbon fuel tank

So I finally received my fuel tank. The plan is to have it painted to look semi-factory. But the surface finish has what seems like a flaw to me. They are telling me it's normal and have never had a complaint. So that makes it not true I guess. [emoji36]

If you have the same fuel tank can you tell me how the surface finish is. There is a dip in the surface right where the seams come together on one side. The other side is smooth.

Wouldn't be a big deal if I wasn't painting it obviously.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If it were normal they should be the same on both sides I would think.

Probably your browser. I don't have that issue with Androids default browser or chrome. I'm not using the app.

i also have the same tank,must say my doesn't have that hollow in it and i was very happy with mine,i would post a picture if it didn't take me an hour to do it,

one other thing was that when i bought mine i had to pay 10% more for the matte finish,i was told by the Australian distributer that this was because it was more work in detailing the finish to make it look good as opposed to the gloss.

Are they much lighter?
What did you do with yours, paint and leave a bit of CF exposed?

Its unbelievable how light, when i picked it up i thought it was a joke,like picking up a cardboard cut out, but i bought it more because i'm replacing everything with carbon and going for the full matte carbon look,the red tank would have looked a bit shity,the original tank is ally and quite a beautiful tank but its red.

I bought a gloss one from the USA and there was no price difference from the supplier.

I just went and looked at mine but it does not look like that. The surface is smooth across the join.

I believe I was one of the first to get a tank from them (early 2015) and was the unfortunate recipient of the first set of 1299 body pieces (complete disaster). The tank I have to say was excellent in both appearance and mechanically. Tank has close to 18k miles on it and it's been bulletproof. I bought a second tank late 2016. Same situation. No issue. The finish on the CDT stuff is very good (normally). The fit at times is a completely different story. The issue at CDT seems to be that QC doesn't give 2 ..... about anything but the finish and getting things out the door. CDT has a bunch of OEM biz and that's where the effort is focused. With the tank I know "just send it back" sounds great but the wait time for a replacement is somewhat of a ..... depending on the circumstances. Functionally, I'm sure it's fine. For 400 bucks, I could live with it. For 2k plus, yea I'd want a new tank. You should have seen the first fairing stay they sent me. You would feel good about your tank.
