Chain/sprocket suggestion

Dropping the front sprocket one tooth is pretty standard and will make the bike feel more lively. Won't require a new chain either.

I wouldn't trash a new OEM setup for a 520 unless you were otherwise changing gearing. Its not a cheap mod once you start replacing sprockets and carriers.

Streetfighter is 15/42 and the Panigale 16/41.

Ok …my bike has 12k miles on it .How long does the OEM last normally?I understand that we all ride differently but just curious in general.

I thought you were doing it just to go to a 520. There’s a few retailers which have 520 kits for the Panigale, I think it’s around $450 or so.

I’ve used Sprocket Center in the past. Once you start adding cush drives and Ti nonsense the price climbs rapidly.

I've done the 520 conversion and kept stock gearing. Here is a site that can help you understand gearing impacts: GC: Add Bike to Database

If you have an Adblocker he will prompt you to change settings and all you need to do is click "Add Data to Gearing Database"

I used Sprocket Center for my upgrades:

The stock SF GEARING is

1 tooth less on the front

And 1 tooth bigger on the rear

This gives you in total 4 teeth shorter gearing

I have a few friend riding SF and tell me the gearing is to short, compared to the panigale,

Going 1 tooth smaller on the rear, will give him a bit taller gearing, (almost unnoticeable) and a bit longer wheelbase)

That is why, I will go one tooth down on the rear,

But that is just me, for my riding

If the OP just does slow street commuting, any gearing will do

That makes sense. I went one down in the front to give me 15/41, and going one down on the rear on the Streetfighter does the same thing, 15/41.

^^^ I went with that on my 1199 back in the day. Kind of a best of both worlds. I'd echo what he said in a previous post, its less durable and outside of the gearing being different, not really a noticeable improvement.
