Chain tension question. The manual/diagram on the swing arm differ from the actual bike. The position A as per the diagram is nowhere near any of the retaining screws B. So...where do you measure from?

it may not be correct but i measured just forward of the screw where the plastic curves back to the center-line. 2mm deviation whether the kickstand or paddock stand. i did take out two turns of preload on the spring.

Thanks. In relation to the diagram, I’m thinking that “A” is in the wrong place, but with reference to “B” it is correct...as the curve in the plastic near the rear screw is approx half way along the chain.

measuring from the metal. its kinda hard to get a straight ahead view of the center-line of the chain pin/rivet as the perspective will effect the measurement. ....unless your hasselhoff. (crawling around on the floor isn't my thing. lol)

Cheers.

It reads, "45 + 47mm." Certainly they mean, "45 - 47mm?" I.e., a range of 45 -47 mm is the target? Otherwise, they're saying it should be 92mm, which can't be.

After changing sprockets, mine is now at 50mm, which looks and feels ok. It was about 46mm before I changed sprockets. Are any racers / track people running a different tension?

i run tension set exactly at the mid point between numbers. I got 12x track weekends and about 22K miles out of my last chain on the 1299. Same exp on the 1199.

I got about 3-4mm of stretch in first 200miles, then i adjusted again and never had to mess with it until i replaced the chain. Tool loose is better than too tight. My steel sprockets wore faster than the chain. I like the 252 VX3 chains...most recently I got the newest and strongest VMX2.... so far so good

That's some badass longevity! Nice work. So you set it ag 46mm?

based on the range for V2 yes sir, that is exactly what i would do.

I believe my 1299 is 39-42mm (from memory)

and yes, super surprised on how long they lasted me..on both bikes...i lube every 200-400miles, and clean around every 1000miles. More if i get caught in the WET...hate that ....

Yeah, 1299, you said that, lol, my bad. I was thinking V2.

I get lots of life out of my chains, as well. Even my race ones last two seasons. I clean and lube every weekend.

Man 22K. I mostly ignore my chains and throw them away at about 12K. I was rooting around the toolbox and found a grunge brush (didn't remember I had one). Maybe I'll follow your lead and be more fastidious. You're close enough to ride in Colo. I've never rode there and not been rained on, hailed on...
