Following three years of competition my 2022 V2 dropped a valve. It is dyno tuned and has an aftermarket ecu, but is otherwise stock internally. However, since the motor is going to be pulled, I am contemplating building the engine up for more power. The question is, would it be a worthwhile investment? I see there are several options for motor upgrades including a 993 big bore kit, carrillo rods, ext... What kind of horsepower can I achieve with these types of upgrades and proper dyno tuning? With my full system termi exhaust/tuning the stock motor achieved 154 horsepower on the dyno.

I have been interested in a bit more power from a lighter flywheel. On the 1199, it saves 3lbs, but I am not sure if our flywheels are already proportionally lighter than the 1199's.

Which aftermarket ECU did you use? My racebike is using a downloadable map and all of those from BT Tuners, Deussen, etc. leave a lot to be desired.

Our compression ratio is 12.5/1 but the R6 uses a 13.1/1 and the RS660 uses a 13.5/1, so high comp and/or larger bore pistons might be possible.

Depends on what "investment" means lol.
Financial Investment? as in return on investment at sale? No way!
OR.....
Personal Investment? as in satisfaction with power gains after expenditure?
(Careful.... we might go down the rabbit hole so hang on....") The answer is probably....
Well.....
for a week or two anyway...
after two weeks the shear horror kicks in.
you realise only then that the slightest hint of torque the extra 38cc provides starts to feel normal to you and you wonder why the hell you blew more like $4000 all up and have to lie to yourself by whispering "it was totally worth it, 38 cc... the thing is now a vicious animal that can't be tamed" over and over again as you can't sleep again.... just like last night..... and the night before that. Worse, your wife now sleeps with her back to you cos she's still pissed about the $1600 dollar spend you sold to her so masterfully 4 weeks prior, that instead cost $3500 -$4000 by the time you got talked into carillo rods, forged crank.... which was nice but looked better with " Totally Bombed V2" engraved on the counterweights in hot MM93 factory test red with genuine 9 carat Panagale shaped diamond highlights... Of course, the crank is useless without polishing but not with any ordinary lubricant.... your crank is special because your bike deserves it.... hell... you deserve it.... you mates will shout you many beers...annnnnnd, the ad says it good for another 6 horse power if rubbed anti clockwise under Infared 18watt globes at 564 feet above sea level in a temperature controlled 77.5 degree blast proof room, and since its still apart anyway, and probably won't cost much more, only the finest Nepalese mountain goat milk based lubricant freshly squeezed by Gigi Dell'Igna for 3 days in June every leap year so long as it's a 3/4 moon and Venus and Saturn are in phase.. will do.
See where I'm going with this?
We're only human.

These bolt on 102mm bore kits (993) are sold for around $1600 USD. Most suppliers forget to tell you that you then need to fork out for specially made head Gaskets to suit and that you'll also need to give them your cylinders to swap out (probably not one that's been beaten up by a valve head and broken off spark plug end trying to make room for an angry piston that's smashing to pieces at 8000RPM) so you might be up for one or two of these too...

38cc?.... Bang 1299 in it lol or buy a V4.

Please accept this for entertainment value... based on my own lifelong habit of financially irresponsible modifications that vastly outweigh final performance gains.
What's valuable and worth it to you is a waste of time to others! Who cares about others lol.... Do what makes you smile and sleep well at night.

As you were.

Unless you're racing it and trying to stay under a 1000cc to fit in a 600/750 class, put a 1199 or 1299 motor in it. Then have it re-tuned and you'll be a lot happier for less or equal money. Maybe you can try to put 1199/1299 heads on the V2 motor, but you'll need to first check if the valves hit the side of the cylinder because of the larger valves & smaller bore. If the larger valves clear the cylinder you'll have to swap over the idler gears because V2/959 motors use 30 tooth cam gears while 899/1199/1299 motors use 25 tooth cam gears.
