Akra Installed w: clutch cover.jpg

I have finally finished the excruciating Full Akrapovic system install on my Panigale 899 along with my magnesium case cover, Ducabike clear clutch cover, Oil change, Charcoal canister removal, and LED headlight swap.... HOWEVER, after putting the bike back together, I ended up with the dreaded (CEL) Check Engine Light!

Note:
- The servo motor was removed & harness was left recessed back with ziptie
- Charcoal canister was extended (gas overfill) & plugged correctly (vacuum)
- Two o2 sensors were fitted/plugged in properly before starting
- Right hand side rear set was removed with brake sensor line hanging
- Bike fires up right away
- ALL connections were properly re-installed and plugged in correctly.

I have read a dozen times that the CEL should not appear from the Full akra install but unfortunately that may not be the case here.. If anyone has any information or input please let me know!

> To those of you who have the Full Akrapovic system or slip on's:
I am missing the front mounting bracket for the akra cans, can someone confirm if this mount below comes with the 1199's stock or just the akrapovic system?

Thanks so much!

Did u transfer the sensor off your stock headlight n put it on to the back of the led headlight? If not, that air sensor will trigger a cel, not the exhaust install.

Yes. I actually put the headlight back to stock for the sake of finding out what the CEL was being trigger from..

Can it have anything to do with the fact that there is little gas in the tank?

Definitely not. Again, exhaust alone wouldn't trigger the cel. Did u follow the instructions in regards to what to do after removing the servo motor? Outside of that and the headlight sensor, I'm puzzled.

Did u place the sensor back on the original headlight before u reinstalled it?

Yup! I reconnected the adapter to the cooling fan and zip tied back, leaving the adapter to the servo motor in place.

I dunno why but my hunch says headlight temp sensor. Do u know the piece I'm talking about? It's just screwed in to the back of the headlight with nothing plugged into it. Just kinda sits there. I made this mistake when i had done my conversion.

Well I put the entire light back to stock so the Headlight shouldn't be an issue?

But for future reference, are you talking about the piece on the top right or in the middle below?

the front mounting bracket (the first picture in your post) comes with the Akra ti full system and is actually also made from titanium.

I know, CEL and removed servo is a topic often discussed on this forum. My hunch is that it depends on the MY. Since I instaled the exhaust on a 2012, I also added a ViziTec servo eliminator to make sure that CEL woudn't be caused by this.

What happens if you just hook up the servo again and fire up the bike? Just for my curiosity...

The little piece in the photo to the left of the electrical tape. Nothing connected into it.

Check whichever headlight u have that isn't currently installed on your headlight. If that piece is screwed in, that piece needs to transfer to the led headlight for the cel to disappear. Held in place by one screw.

That's what i figured! The person that I got it from must've not given that to me. Is there anywhere I could get that new hardware from?

Did you originally have a problem with the CEL?

When I re-attached the servo adapter the bike fired right back up made the little sound and still showed the CEL... (however I did not warm up to operating temps - it was around 130 F)

Operating temps are irrelevant. It will show a cel or not show a cel even if the bike was in the on position but not started.

I have no clue whether it helps, some ducati techs recommend to remove the battery for a couple of minutes to "reset" the ECU's memory.
I guess that might helped on older bikes, but on the Pani?
But in you situation I would give it a try, it doesn't hurt. with the servo keeping attached to emliminate this source.

Another source are not properly connected plugs. I got the CEL because one of my Lambda sensors was not properly connected.

Got it. What year LED headlight do you have?

I do not believe my 12' 1199s LED headlight has that female adapter plug next to that screw hole?

Hmm, interesting.. I was thinking about doing the RapidBike Evo eventually after I tested the bike with the new Akra setup. Will this do the trick of removing CEL? And could I possibly do both or would this servo exhaust eliminator affect a tune?

Couldn't tell ya. I just got it off ebay. No questions asked.

Did you take any close up pictures? There is a date on the white sticker of the headlights that shows when that headlight was made.

Also, in the settings on the dash, it shows ERR (error) then when clicked it says ENG (engine). I assume if it was anything else it would be different?

No clue whether the "trick" helps, nor do I know whether it has any influence at all. Servo eliminator doesn't affect anything else, it just makes the ECU believe thtat there's still a servo installed.
