clutch cover. what did you get?

just looking around what market has to offer in terms of clutch cover

what you guys think of these?

rizoma clutch cover - look great but makes me wonder if any protection is really offered
DP clutch cover - i feel the same with these as the rizoma

the 2nd cover using polymer plastic to cover over the top of the case

any thoughts?

i love things that dont make my bike look stupid but there is no point in protection items that dont protect.

I'm still waiting to receive the Ducati Carbon Fiber Clutch and Generator cover. Today my dealer said they are on back order and he is unsure the estimated time of arrival. I'm curious to find out of these are diy installations. Anyone?

i thought your dealer would do it for free.
its easy remove some bolts and place over top then hex way put back the bolts with the correst torque of cuz.
some clips on youtube show how its done

looks easy enough

DP clutch cover took me less than 5 minutes to put on. It's about as easy as putting on my DP heel guards. :)

Takes about 10 mins for clutch but more for gen as i took off the fairing

If you know how to use basic tools you will be okay

got the GBR, too. figured the CF parts were more optical protection (protect the eyes ;) ) while the massive nylon cover can take up shocks better, crack less and provide more abrasion resistance.

it is not really a matte finish, but also not a glossy surface.

installation was easy, if you mind having the right torque, the ones from :click: *harbor freight* are fairly accurate for a throw-away price

i think, they blend in pretty well and give the best protection for the money...

What happen to the right exhaust? and the fluid under the bike?

was running without the can sleeves for a while, as one has rattled off (check the exhaust wrap thread for pics) not the finest example for italian welding art.

the fluid under the bike is from washing my baby almost every day :D dripping happiness.

GB Racing is the only way to go. They are also FIM approved. That CF .... is great for sliding, but offers no structural protection. I had a low side on my RC8R with a carbon fiber protector, my rearset snapped off and cracked my clutch cover through that POS. Yeah it looks good, but it does NOTHING.

Go with the GB Racing covers if your looking for proper protection. I met the guy who owns the company bout 3 years ago at Oulton Park race track here in the UK. He had a trade stand in the paddock. The guy never sits still,while i was talking to him he was rendering a 3D CAD image on a laptop for the latest covers he was gonna produce. Clever man and what he told me about the materials used in their making made perfect sense. There aint anything else like them on the market. Most stuff if it aint carbon is usually Delrin and thats been left behind by the material used by GB. And no,I dont work for them,this is just a guy making good use of his engineering degree,so respect to him. I"ve got the itsy bitty DP carbon item for looks mainly. I know if I go down the road stuff is gonna get ......,saving a metal clutch cover from getting scratched or holed is the least of my worries in that situation. Thats why i"m aiming at keeping it upright. Stay safe.

Went with the Rizoma.

I don't want any CF on my bike and didn't want to cover that nice gold paint.

If the bike just falls over on pavement or concrete the guard will keep the cover damage free.

It falls and slides on gravel you're screwed.
