Cold Start / Ice control

Is there any nearby warm garage you can push it into and let it warm up a bit ?

I agree with the boys about the lithium. I specifically read that in the Shorai manual, that if it sits for an extended period it needs to be cycled a bit to bring it out of "sleep"....

It also says if it drops below 13.3 you should charge it before you try it. Check the link below under "unused for several weeks"

No, there is no warm environment. It's cold underground parking. But I am going to use an industrial fan heater like below to warm the bike.

Regarding the battery voltage. It never gives 13.3 Volt. Usually it provides 13V, not more. When I tried to start the engine last time then I did not see the decreasing of voltage even after several attempts. Moreover, before I created this thread I fully charged the battery using Ducati Maintenance Charger (69924601A).

Well, thank you everyone for the feedback, today I will try to revive the Pani. :)

I was trying to warm up the battery using the headlight but after waiting 10+ mins there is no visible effect.

Tomorrow I will try to use the fan heater. Hope it can help.

I don't know 100%. But the charger technical info tells me that is the same like manufacturer provides.

I may be mistaken but from my understanding, lithium batteries require a lithium specific tender/charger.

Yes and if you use a conventional one it can kill the battery over time.

I seen that chart too and for me it was a little confusing. When it was cold i checked the voltage and it was around the high 11 low 12's if i recall right. after a couple warm ups with the lights she got up to 12.7 and then that was enough to crank the 1098 going.

Seems, you are right - I need to use another battery charger because it does not provides the needed current during a charging. It means I can not reach max voltage for my battery and it always under 13V.

I have compared the current values for Ducati and Aliant chargers and they are different: Ducati has 1A and Aliant has 3A.

So, will look the suitable / specific charger and try to charge battery again.

Today, even after I warmed the battery I got no result.

Hopefully its just a simple thing like the battery. Ive been where you are and its not a good felling to think something might be wrong with your baby(bike)

Thanks :) I hope so. I will try to order the charger and solve my problem ASAP.

Anyway, am not going to ride before April / May at least... ))

leave the bike along don't try to start your bike in the Middler of the winter you will have too much condensation in the engine and you wont be able to get the bike hot enough, good indication is you sigh glass looking like milk shake, wait until you can actually ride the bike, you dont want all the water seating inside your pipe either, in cold area at the end of your riding season I change the oil (you dont want old oil with a hight acidity lever seating on you engine) and leave the gas tank the lower possible especial if you have a plastic tank. put the battery tenter and forged it.

Hi All.

Sorry for delay. I purchased the charger for my battery. Now I see the voltage 13.5-13.8 but still same result with starter... cannot start engine.

Any ideas what happens?

Finally I have replaced the battery and now it's OK. Seems, it did not provide suitable current for the engine.

it took 4 months for you to realize all you needed to do was get a new battery...? Lithium batteries should be charged at a 1C rating or no more than 4.2v/Cell - keep that in mind when charging your new battery, you may want to get a better charger also

Lithium batteries must ONLY be charged with a specific charger. It's possible you may of damaged the battery using an incorrect charger

Yes, you are right. In my city is +4 degrees still, I just opened the bike cover to check the issue again.

Thank you. Now I got it.
