are you kidding?

I come from jap bikes and as soon as I saw the 1199 I already spotted something I knew I wouldn't like and it was confirmed in one of the reviews. The kickstand is a pain in the ass to get down. It may not be aesthetically appealing, but I loved the rods that stick out halfway up the kickstands on the jap bikes. Put your heel between the peg and the shifter and you could find the kickstand every time. May not be a big deal to some, but it's one of those things that just makes a bike easier to own.

I see you're a senior member and for that I will show due respect. However, this has to be the most lame excuse for not liking the most revolutionary motorcycle Ducati has produced in decades. Of all the performance issues to choose from, including ergonomics, you choose the most unimportant part of a superbike. I am completely baffled.
I wonder if Hayden, Rossi, Josh hayes, or even Troy Bayliss considered the importance of the kickstand? Of course you could just cut one of those awesome japanese kickstands off and somehow retrofit and weld it on the 1199? Send pics if ya do man! We'd all love to see that and perhaps even follow your lead!
Seriously, do you really own or ride one of your own too?
I swear I saw that under your screen name.

Non Issue...felt like it was a pain in the butt on my Ducs at first....practice by riding them cured it :D

The negatives associated with the side stand were overstated in my opinion. This is my first Ducati so I have no others to compare it to but I had zero issue locating the side stand the first time or others after that.

Now, remembering to put the side stand up before putting in gear is another story. I have a ride out vid that right when I pull out of the garage and go to take off the bike dies because I didn't get the stand up. Stupid stuff from being without a bike for 5 years.

Husker! Don't know why I said Andy, but you knew I meant you! And thanks!

No problem - I've just got to see if I can get my crappy scanner to work. It's a big article and most of it is printed on full colour pics.

(In Allen Iverson voice) We talking bout kick stands? I mean really....we talking bout kick stands....this is supposed to be the best super bike and we talkin bout kick stands....not riding...not riding...kick stands! We talking bout kick stands!
Not the bike...not the bike we all love...we talkin bout kick stands...
Kick stands ya all. I mean, how silly is that. Kick stands....!

Serious I don't get the issue with complaining about the kick stand. Every machine will have something someone doesnt like and besides the kick stand is easy to get down.
Just put your toe between the shift lever and the rear set and it's right there.
I don't even have to look.
I put it down, make sure the red light comes on the dash, look down to make sure the red lights not lying and I'm good.

Holy crap, that was funniest post I've read in awhile.

(in Jim Mora's voice) KICKSTAND! KICKSTAND! Are you kidding me! At this point I just hope we don't get a centerstand!

LMAO! This was my point exactly. Of all the things to "evaluate" or comment on, this guy chooses the most ridiculous component of this unreal bike!

Very good friend of mine was riding and while taking a turn the kick came down and launched him off the bike. He died a few days later. He was riding a custom bike so I know its not the same but none the less I can use a rear tire stand
