You wouldn't scoff if I were standing in front of you wearing my extra small Affliction shirt and my new helmet with the skulls on it while flexing.

Now that image is just burned into my skull. I'll have nightmares for the next few nights.

Truly, when I read "brother", all I picture is this:

Would it have been more intimidating if I said Ed Hardy shirt? :)

I went with the RF1200.

Bwhahaha! I almost had forgotten about those.

So where did you order it and how much? Did you get the Marquez one? I just tried one on at a shop today. Extremely nice quality, but a bit heavy for my taste.

I'm with Gunny and Mark though, you should have gone with the Bell Star Carbon for the same money, with a Transition shield and a self-sticky anti-fog insert. Best summer helmet evah.

Lmfao !!!

Let's see.. You, Gunny AND Mark all recommending something? Sheesh, that's like taking medical advice from Mengele. Good thing I went with the Shoei. :)

I wonder if Randy was Cambodian?

i have them all the bell star carbon and both shoeis rf1200 and x12. truth be told i got the shoei cause of the graphics turned out to be better than i had thought. the bell though is fantastic helmet. started with the rs1 sold it got the star carbon sold that for another star carbon laguna seca limited edition. transition shield is flawless. i do wish it had pinlock but i am by no means complaining in the summer it doesnt fog and i dont wear it when it starts to get cold.

I have the Nexx XR1R. Love it. Lightest helmet so far. No buffeting. Very quiet. Incredible field of vision. Important for me as I commute in the city most of the time. Yes, I do miss the photochromic shield from my Akuma Phantom but I just carry a set of sunglasses in my jacket pocket. Not too big of a deal. I also use it for the track (as many others do). Definitely worth considering.

Gunny,

How does the bell fit your head compared to the aria?

I ask because I've had shoei's and aria's and the arai fits the shape of my head great, but the shoei gets uncomfortable in the front after a while.

I'd definitely like the idea of a transition shield as I bought an aftermarket stick on that was supposed to transition, but sucked so I threw it away (goodbye $40....). :-(

E- you are SERIOUSLY missing out on this by not at least TRYING the Bell with transition shield brother! Id be happy to let you try mine but then again I never hear nor see you anymore and you are right here in my AO, and a block from me at work!

I've personally owned every brand of helmet there is (though no Shuberth or whatever that name is) and found the Bell to be the MOST ventilated of them all. I have an Arai Ducati Corse model that I got with the 1198s Corse ,and the Bell Star Cerwinske. Each time i go out its a toss up which i wear but usually ends up being the Bell, DEFINITELY in the summer for sure! Believe me, nothing I hate worse than riding on a bright sunny day with a clear lens and since we have so much storage space on the Pani for carrying a spare lens, NOTHING beats the transition shield out there! And NO, sunglasses with the clear lens are NOT the answer at all. This thing gets dark enough where bright sun is no issue at all, and quickly changes to clear once the heat tab in the sky goes down for the night!

That is my 4 cents on this and feel bad for ya man for not even giving it a try. Plus they don't .... you on the price of this great lid as well, which comes in some great graphics and carbon of course too! I turned Mark and other members onto it and all of them love it for summer riding. Yeah the drawback is some noise but even using the Sena SMH-10 it doesn't even effect audio or ability to talk back n forth with someone either on the phone or rider to rider. Maybe one day we'll meet up again with other members at our Starbucks location in Arlington eh?

I highly suggest you check one out at a store for fitment. I had one of the first year's when the Bell Star came out and they refined their internal shape at least 2 times in the last 5 years. The latest ones fit very differently from the original one.

I wear a medium in Arai Corsair V and it fits my head perfectly, but the lower front of the helmet is just a bit too close to my mouth, like if I face-planted my teeth would be knocked out by the front of the helmet.

The latest medium Bell Star is a bit narrower in the forehead area for me than the Corsair V but has more mouth space.
