Considering the 1299 SL

I am torn. I am on the fence about putting an order in for the 1299 SL. I have to admit, it's the world superbike experience in Italy that is really grabbing my attention. Might just order the bike just for that benefit.

Has anyone done the world superbike experience? Was that offered with the 1199 SL?

I paid for mine through GP Bikes before Ducati publicly unveiled it. To buy one (in Canada), Ducati has to send you a letter of intent to purchase it. You then have to sign the letter and put down $8500 and wait for Ducati to allocate a unit. Once your dealer is informed a unit has been allocated you have to pay another $8500 immediately. At this point it's non refundable and then you wait for Ducati to build it and ship it.

This is the part that caught my attention. How many times do you get a chance to ride a world superbike Ducati around a MotoGP track?

Two questions :

1 Can you afford it ?
2 Do you want it ?

If the answers are "yes", then just go for it ! You don't have that opportunity many times in a life time, and those bike probably are the most evolved and last L twin superbikes produced by Ducati at the moment. Just keep some money for the next V4 (or L4) in case you like it !

Its not a benefit its included in the bikes price

My project director put a deposit on a 1299 SL, but due to some "internal issue" with Ducati Australia his and another person's order was never placed/confirmed and he missed out.
He currently trying (ie: beg) some of the confirmed Australia owners to on-sell to him.

...or he will wait for the first owners in Qatar/Saudi to get bored after a tank of gas.

Great service up to point of purchase but after he has your monies... say goodbye to the after service...

Mate, are you seriously asking the Ducati forum if you should buy the new SL..... sh*t, buy two and I'll come ride with you.

He is quite useless youngR, unfortunately he also has the lowest prices for Ducatis in Canada because of the volume he sells... As much as I cant stand him, I usually save a couple of thousand dollars here and there of my bikes and aftermarket performance parts..
