Hey guys just curious what coolant you run in the V4. I was thinking of putting water wetter in just to keep it cooler. Any thoughts?

I’m in Southern California so I have used water wetter with distilled water for many of my bikes with great results and it is legal with all race and track orgs.

It almost never gets colder than 40 degrees here though so I don’t worry about it freezing. I now run engine ice in my V4 and it runs maybe 2 - 3 degrees cooler.

I use Belray Moto chill racing coolant and have not had any issues at the track. I've been told water wetter degrades the seals on the water pump bearings but have not personally experienced it so take that for what it's worth.

I have a 2019 V4 base model and the itch to try some club racing, and need to swap out my OEM coolant (ENI Agip Permanent Spezial antifreeze; the pink stuff).
Race org requirements as follows:
CVMA: Only water, Water Wetter and Cool Aid are allowed as coolant.
WERA: Water cooled engines may use plain water, or water with Redline (or similar product, call WERA for verification) cooling system rust and corrosion inhibitor at 0.5 ounces per quart of plain water concentration, Silkolene Pro CCA (Corrosion Control Additive) and Royal Purple Purple Ice are also allowed. ALL glycol based antifreezes are prohibited.

My trusted Ducati shop strongly advised me to NOT use anything other than the OEM coolant, or risk quick corrosion problems. That said, it's not my plan for this bike to last forever (I'll probably crash it before my water pump rusts out), but I also want to make informed decisions.

Currently, I am considering Maxima Cool-Aide as a good solution. I reached out to the company and they advised to use the concentrate at 5% with distilled water, versus their 3% ready-to-use mixture. Also, they mentioned that measuring the pH at install and periodically might be a good way to know when it degrades and should be changed. Initially, I was thinking to swap it out every 6 months, given that I'd do about 6-9 track days in that time. They said that's probably a good starting point to fight against corrosion.

My questions to my favorite forum of all time: Does anyone have experience or data running race-approved coolants? Anyone use Maxima Cool-Aide? Any recommendations whatsoever?

Thanks!

Same as Mav been running water wetter for 20+ years in these bikes. That combo with a all water or oil/water SBK one piece radiator works phenomenal. I also run clear lines so I can monitor fluid.
