Crankcase Oil Leak, Warranty Dept Unresponsive

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I just bought a brand new 2012 panigale s tricolore. I only put 125 miles on it and it has oil dripping on the floor and all over the exhaust! Im pretty upset, almost 30k bike after tax and it leaks oil? I dont even want the bike anymore. What do you guys here in the forum recommend to do??

Congratulations, that's quite a serious leak you have there:)
I think you are in the running for the worst leak on an 1199 award.

What to do you ask?
I say get it fixed under warranty as it's the common sense thing to do.

On the emotional side I sympathise with how you must be feeling right now, but don't loose heart and spit the dummy.
Just stay the course.
DUCATI will look after you;)

Dont get me wrong, i love this bike but after 125 miles? Common!! Now i have to deal without having a bike? Seems like a lemon to me.

Simple then.
Get it fixed under warranty, then dump it and cut your losses while you can is the logical choice. IMO.

Yep, big a pain as it is having a brand new bike, take it back to the dealer and get it sorted under warranty.

Mine went in yesterday cause it was going thru a quart of oil every 200 miles and no oil leaks. Come to find out the motor has to be rebuilt or replaced. Mechanic told me there was chunks of metal in the oil pan. Said the down time will be 3 weeks. But on a brighter note I won't get charged for the full termi install so that's a plus..

That is a nasty leak, ride that puppy down to the dealer, pull right into the service dept. leave it running and let it piss oil all over the floor, perhaps it will burs into flames right there and they'll have to replace it.

Well I was thinking it may be too much of a genuine risk of catching fire on the way to the dealer.

He would be better off to call DUCATI Roadside Assist and arrange for them to pick it up from his house and take it to the dealer for safety sake.
After all that's what we pay for in the purchase price.
I say get full value out of it.

Wow. You have good eyes.

It is highly depended on dealers...I also had to think carefully which dealer to take for bikes.

If you think it will be a problem, I would buy stock Exhaust and put them on but if you are out of warranty...not sure.
