Yamaha is a big company-
Spends the most on PR and Marketing-
And probably has the best press junkets...

LOL

i guess he wanted to bash the 1299, but they won, so Sport Rider is irrelevant. and he posted it on here to do us fanboys a favor or something.

You say this... But they have been killing us in MotoGP and WSBK.

I love my Pani, but Yamaha does have their .... together presently...

By the way, my local Yamadog dealer actually has a new R1 on the floor. I was picking up a Canyon Dancer there yesterday for my NY trip and looked it over.

Of note: it comes from the factory with the Battlax RS10. Asked the sales troll how they stick on the road and street. He didn't know, he hasn't ridden one.

That tire looks like a good alternative to the Pirellis and is supposed to last a little longer.

Ah decisions, decisions...

all great bikes, i actually think there are very few bad bikes now.

If i was in he market for a new ltr bike i would buy the R1 it's a very impressive bit of kit and good value for the money.

Yamaha has always had their .... together in MotoGP. Ducati has finally become competitive this year, scoring podiums and running in the front group the entire race.

BUT....those bikes are $1.5 million handbuilt prototypes. Irrelevant to what we ride.

In WSBK, Yamaha is only running in SUPERSTOCK, and there, the R1 is doing alright, but is behind the three bikes consistently fighting for podiums - Aprilia, BMW....and Ducati.

A friend of mine has the R1M - impressive bike; has the exact same Ohlins that my 1299S has, other nice bits, and is very quick too, although not faster than my bike.

Very, very few reviews can be unbiased, as it is the manufacturers that supply the test bikes and also advertising. A magazine might risk losing advertising dollars by being brutally honest in a review, but if they get blacklisted by a company and can't get access to test bikes, then they are truly screwed.

I know the BMW is faster than my 1299 - I have one. It ain't about numbers my friends; it's about the riding experience. Every time I park my 1299, I feel like I had just had .... No other sportbike provides that satisfaction :)

Look forward to reading the article, but the one I'm really waiting for is RR World and Chris Ulrich - I met him at Grattan many years ago

Stock for stock, lap times should be very close between the R1 and 1299, but I do believe the R1 has more ultimate track potential.

Yamaha doesn't have a factory team in WSBK this year, supposedly that will change next year.

"Not faster" by what measure? Bear in mind all U.S. R1s are limited, down at least 10-12 rwhp as delivered

Lap times - with an expert doing the testing - don't lie

The Ducati provides a very unique riding experience and I think that's why we all love them

Having put more miles on a BMW S1000RR than almost anyone else on the planet, I can say that the BMW is better than the Panigale in two areas in my opinion. 1. It has more top end power and probably better top end acceleration and higher top speed. 2. It is a better every day commute bike(yet I am commuting every day, quite happily on my 1299).

Other than that, the 1299S is superior in every other facet I can think of (again, in my opinion). I just took another days ride up HWY1 yesterday, and NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING else I have ever driven or ridden, puts a smile on my face like the 1299 does... Not my Porsche GT2, not my S1000RR, not my Daytona 675R, not my friend's Ferrari 430 Scuderia..... Nothing.

Check out how the R1 got on at the Northwest 200 and the TT. Superstock road racing is a brutal test for motorcycles and there's no hiding place. The R1 wasn't fast, blew oil into the airbox at continual high rpm/speed and eventually lunched their engines.

High praise - but the GT2 is going to get a whole lot more tail ;)

As long as good roads are witihin reach (lucky you in CA) I'll take motorcycling over golf every day of the week

Jet-skiing is a close second, and might even be first when it's 100 in the shade like it is here right now

If we're comparing Japanese inline 4s to Ducati twins in terms of reliability in racing (% of engine failures), I'm not sure that will go all that well for Ducati

please sell your bike and buy a yamaha .
your expert opinion on drag racing, oil , break in , and how much ducati sucks - lost its ability to amuse long ago.

Just stating the facts, if you don't like it I could really care less...I never once said "Ducati sucks" and I love my 1299, so once again you're blowing smoke
