Probably not! Still, the bike that the press have put on a pedestal wasn't quick and had a pretty serious design flaw that led to the engines blowing up.

Just stating the facts, if you don't like it I could really care less...I never once said "Ducati sucks" and I love my 1299, so once again you're blowing smoke

in any event, if I were you I would really try to get your hands on an R1M. You'll really, really enjoy it.

Hope to see Yamaha back in WSBK - miss the Ben Spies days. Kawasaki Ninja is the first bike I ever owned, though

That year with Spies Vs Haga was f'ing awesome. I have never been on the edge of my seat watching racing on TV as I was that year.

Two things happened today that make me not give a flying .... about what others think of my bike....

0215 on I75 going to work I completely monkey stomped some dude on a GSXR 1000. At least that is what the stickers said that were plastered all over it.

The best part? I'm pretty sure I started the roll on at about 6K rpm....even better the dude was in typical Florida gear...shorts/t-shirt/tennis shoes. At least he had a helmet and gloves on....LOL. After the third roll on I parked it in the slow lane at 70. My luck the dude was blasted at that time of day. Nothing like someone eating .... and me getting caught up in a racing ticket.

On my way home I caught two people taking pictures of the bike at a light.
Heck, that hardly happens even in my Cobra. It's way ....... louder and more obnoxious than my bike...

I have road raced with WERA and CCS, on and off, since 1999. I've raced GSXR's, ZX's, KTM's, Aprilia. I currently race a full blown Honda CBR 1000RR superbike with WERA. I own a 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. With that said, there is nothing that compares to the over all feel of my 1299S. I haven't raced the 1299S yet, but if it performs like I expect it will, I'm happy. Every time I get off the Duc from a simple street ride, I am grinning like a monkey. My Duc put down 193 rwhp with no motor work. It has a full Akro system on it and the Rapid Bike module. It handles like a dream and the brakes are awesome. Every bike I've ever raced needed motor work and either a 25mil or 30 mil Ohlins fork kit and Ohlins shock put on it. If you can't perform at club level racing with 190 horse power, traction control, wheelie control, etc, then you ain't ever going to perform while racing. I also own 2 Yamaha Waverunners and they are awesome. I'm sure the new R1 is awesome. But, I don't care what anyone says. My Ducati 1299S is absolutely amazing. Oh...I almost forgot. My point in this rambling diatribe is that when the magazines test the bikes, they are bone stock. Most guys make so many mods to a bike that you can't go by what the magazines don't like. You just use them as a base line to help you figure out what the Achille's heels will be when prepping the bikes for racing. Long live Ducati. I love mine!

it was exciting and painful. I'm a huge Spies fan; I own every HJC Spies signature helmet, including the original one that came with a signed certificate. I'm actually wearing a Ducati Spies T-shirt at this very moment, ironically.

I'm also (obviously) a huge Ducati fan, and really, really wanted to see Haga finally get the championship that had eluded him for so long (and was IMHO stolen from him that one year).

mixed emotions, watching that season :p

you don't state any facts and most of the time you are completely wrong.

you say you love your ducati and yet you are factually stating the yamaha is a better track bike ??? based on what ? your an expert track guy been on the new r1 ridden the new r1 on the track?

every other post you make is slamming ducati NA or the bike itself.

btw meeting ulrich doesn't make you an expert . quoting everyones post and correcting them makes you look delusional especially since you're wrong most of the time.

Example?

you say you love your ducati and yet you are factually stating the yamaha is a better track bike ???

You can't read (and you can't write much above 5th grade level, either) - I already stated my reasons. You're being obnoxious in general telling me to sell my bike, etc just because we disagree on the R1 - get off my ...

My wife thinks it is amusing that I was in a Yamaha dealership standing before their new "halo" bike and all I could do was look at the tire and feel it to see if I wanted that for my next Pani tire.

She says I am addicted to my new Pani...

Very observant Woman...

sport rider magazine is out this month comparing 3 superbikes. bmw s1000rr, r1 and 1299s. can you guess who came in first and who came in last?

i know its killing so

R1
bmw s1000rr
1299s.

here is one thing the 1299s won though most expensive.

i know r1 is ugly bmw is ugly 1299s is the best. magazines dont matter or whatever doesnt matter but when ducati comes first these boards light up but wait it doesnt matter.

Where's the spoiler alert?? I wait by my mailbox every day for my issue of Sport Rider. For those of us on the west coast our mail hasn't even been delivered yet. That's some real insensitive .....

Here's a cute little gem you spouted off a couple days ago.

Redline is ok, but it never does that well in standardized tests or UOAs - Amsoil blows it out of the water

Not just opinion - fact

I don't mind that you post stuff like this, it is a forum after all, but don't go throwing around the F word without actually backing it up with hard data.

but, but....the fact that the new R1 is far superior to the 1299 is so factual it doesn't actually require data.

well, if you want data, Rossi just got pole position for tonight's race at Assen, on his Yamaha. Ducati's highest grid placement is 6th. Therefore, the new R1 is superior to the 1299.

After riding the R1 Ill take the 15 BMW over the R1. But I'll still take the 15 1199R/1299S over both the R1 and BMW. Its just a better handling bike hands down.

Congratulations on your highway roll-on victory.

I am looking forward to the highway roll-on Shootout in an upcoming RRW issue.

Of note: it comes from the factory with the Battlax RS10. Asked the sales troll how they stick on the road and street. He didn't know, he hasn't ridden one.

That tire looks like a good alternative to the Pirellis and is supposed to last a little longer.

Ah decisions, decisions...

The OEM tire choice should be the last thing anybody considers when deciding on a bike.

And BTW, tires are one of the places most manufacturers try to skimp on costs by having a cheaper (reduced quality) OEM variant of a popular tire produced and installed from the factory.

Look on just about all of them and you will see an additional letter. Something like "BT-016f" or something along those lines. That "f" (or it may be another letter or number) denotes that is the OEM variant of that tire. It is not of the same quality as the one you will buy aftermarket.

Sometimes they put the extra letter first, sometimes it is a capital letter, etc. It varies by manufacturer. But most of the bikes come with a cheaper OEM variant off the showroom. Granted, they are fine for street riding, but they aren't as good as the aftermarket ones.

This is getting too weird when you start to tell us what you are wearing

I know you guys just approved gay marriage
Lawful maybe but not compulsory

*I* didn't approve of it, and there are 4 voices of reason left on the Supreme Court bench, 2 Obama lapdogs, 2 worthless leftists, and 1 milk toast loser. Very sad day for this country, a new low - but nothing that isn't expected or predicted

It doesn't matter which side of this issue your on. The most disheartening thing about this ruling and the Obamacare ruling is that the court has decided they can now redefine words in the statute base based their interpretation of intent of the drafters. In a politicized court this means they can effectively rewrite laws. Their job is supposed to be interpreting whether the literal text of the law is consistent w/ the principles of the constitution.

In short we now have another (unelected ) legislative branch whose decisions are final.
