It doesn't matter which side of this issue your on. The most disheartening thing about this ruling and the Obamacare ruling is that the court has decided they can now redefine words in the statute base based their interpretation of intent of the drafters. In a politicized court this means they can effectively rewrite laws. Their job is supposed to be interpreting whether the literal text of the law is consistent w/ the principles of the constitution.

In short we now have another legislative branch whose decisions are final.

Yep . on principal both sides of the argument should see it this way.

once we destroy the freedoms of the majority to avoid hurting the 3.5% of gays feeling we've in a strange way taken the part of ours system that protects both sides.

all great bikes, i actually think there are very few bad bikes now.

If i was in he market for a new ltr bike i would buy the R1 it's a very impressive bit of kit and good value for the money.

Funny how subjective getting a bike is...the r1 was dead last on my list when I was shopping.

Having just purchased the 1299 I would be lying if I said I didn't consider the r1, but I think the r1 is the more expensive bike to own (will gladly elaborate to substantiate) and it certainly can't hold a candle to the styling of the 1299...so the choice was clear, 1299 by a landslide. R1 looked cheap, and I think it's the worst value out of all of the big three.

Major contributing factors were actually significant and not just one or two....
1299 has much better styling (opinion)
1299 is less than half to insure
No need to change exhaust immediately (opinion - looks and sounds good)
Single sided swing arm is nicer (opinion)

With that being said, had I purchased the R1 or BMW...I could easily have posted how those bikes are superior. Truth is, the 1299 worked for me for many reasons.

Congratulations on your highway roll-on victory.

I am looking forward to the highway roll-on Shootout in an upcoming RRW issue.

Dude, he lives in Florida....what else you gonna do there on flat straight highways without any corners? :)

Same crap by Yamaha. When the 2009 R1 came out - it was ranked #1 in almost every test and in 2010-14 it was dead last .. this is why the magazine shootout tests aren't worth a damn.

Test them out and see which one feels the best - or just simply pick the best looking one like I did - the ducati. No regrets yet.

Wow - only about 20% less for me

30 years old, clean record...I live in Miami. Insured with Statefarm. State farm was significantly cheaper than any other places that quoted me, but after doing some research, it seems as though insurance on motorcycles really depends on a lot of variables. It seems its mainly where you live. I pay 99 or 101 per month full coverage with 1000 ded. limits and liabilities are 50/100.

Funny thing... When I bought my left over 2014 1199 back in March, I didn't even consider any other bike. I have had Hondas and Suzukis for the last 32 years that I have been riding on the street. Always wanted a Ducati, could never afford one til now.

Was window shopping at Garcia Moto in Raleigh, NC when the sales dude made me an offer that I just could not say no to.

No regrets. No problems in 1300 miles now. Would make the same decision again in a heartbeat regardless of the progress Yamaha or any other brand has made.
