I have a base+Abs its on 395miles and since I've had her she has cut out on me 4 times. at first i thought i stalled it or touched the kill switch somehow.
I was out on her yesterday and i was in second gear coming unto a roundabout I pulled the clutch in and she just died on me. The temp was 58deg.
I pulled over turned the ignition off and on and she started no problem. Weird!!
Any body else had this problem??

This is typical of new Ducatis. Happened to me on a brand new 848 for the first 600mi or so afterwhile it never stalled.

Hello everybody,
I'm new to the forum and have a Panigale s.The dealership break my bike on the dyno and performed the first service at 97 miles.
Yesterday right after riding for the first time i notice that my motocycle was leaking oil and also checked the oil level that was way more then the top line.
Do you guys know if that could cause the oil leak?

Thanks

absolutely could cause the leak, do you know where it's coming from?

Prior to the 1199 motor, they had a crankcase breather located on the back right corner of the motor, looking at mine it appears that's no longer there. That's typically where excess oil would come out.

Hi Chris,
The leak is coming from the front bottom part the bike.Do you thing could damage the engine?

Thanks

Also the problem is that i'm in Montana and there are no Ducati dealership here.I picked up mine in Washinton.

Ducati = Stalling for many, many people. Had it with the 1098, and the diavel. You can do a search and see the longest threads are about stalling for no reason. So find a fix, most never get resolved.

Remove the oil anyway you can, try sucking it out via the fill spout.

Then remove your lower fairing and using contact cleaner do your best to clean it all up.

See if it continues to leak....

Engine damage? Having too much oil is not a good thing, there is a lot of pressure in the lower end, however our bikes have a vacuum pump so to remove the pressure, my bet is your bike vented it out and if you remove the excess oil it wont leak.

It may have destroyed your air filter, this a very good possibility, worth checking...

Pull the fairing, the way the sump is designed it might be leak at the drain plug. Other suggestions are good, remove excess oil with a syringe in the oil filler plug. Pull your fairing clean up the oil, try to see where it's comeing from.

Removing the fairings, be aware the manual is missing removal of two bolts on the side fairings, one on each side about 8 inches below the plastic "bolt" shown on page 156 figure 6.

Mine has cut out three times changing down from second to first gear, dealer doesn't seem concerned (normal) and as others have said a common "ducati' thing. Not sure if it's connected but hasn't done it since I disconnected the exhaust valve- prob a coincidence

I have experienced this sudden stalling problem at low speeds too.... happened twice, last one being yesterday on the Euston Rd, central London. Will let the dealer know when I take it in for first service but put it down to menstrual issues.........

Broken / loose Jiffy switch ?
Had this on my 1098s, replaced with a new switch and never stalled since.

happened to me once but ive had no issues for the last 700 miles.

It happened twice during the same ride, but always after putting it in nuetral while stopped at a red light.

Happened to me once. Pulled in the clutch and the engine just shut down.

My dealer also overfilled my oil after the first service....but no leaks that I can see.

If you look underneath by the corner of the fan housing you'll see a little hole, if you take the right hand fairing off you see this has a pipe leading from it, I believe it's the crankcase breather it's probably blown a little out whilst on the dyno. Possibly.......

Yeah, my 1199 S ABS has cut out several times since I've had it new. I've got about 250 miles on it, and it happened again today. Dealer says it will do that, and also backfire (which it does on occasion) before it's broken in. I actually think it's endearing, and adds character to this red-dressed hottie. Literally, she's really really hot.

Lean fuel mixture, should go away after it is well broke in, probably around 2000+ miles. Happened on my 848, same deal. Don't worry so much about it, it will go away. It used to happen a lot when it was new, 2-3 times a day, then after I put a lot of miles on it, it would happen once in a blue moon.
