Awesome photo.

I love the Z06 and I think the relatively arbitrary 180 mph made it look "bad". I am sure it did 176 very quickly, but gearing made those last 4 mph nice and slow.

Unless Ricky Gadson rode the bikes in a straight line it means nothing. Who rode the bikes etc etc etc. besides. It's not a drag bike. Should done it against the ZX14 and busa ....... test. And then it's against a P1 lol. It's basically a damn Formula 1 car. It better out accelerate a damn bike

Nevermind that a 1299S is what, maybe $26k and the P1 starts at $1.3 million. The scale of that is obscene.

I suspect the Pani had the exhaust flapper valve stuck closed thus strangling the engine performance on the top end , had that problem but sorted now , pulls like a train all the way to the top

Id be interested to know where the 1299 ran out of puff.

We all know the drag race with the P1 and the SL and the SL kills the hypercars all to just above 300kmph, then runs out of puff and they fly past him. I'm surprised the results weren't the same here.

My 14R would pull hard to around 290kmph (fastest I regularly got it) and never felt like it had hit the wall yet. First time I ever hit the drag strip I did a 10.1. I would have thought the 1299 would be quicker than the 14R. Things like this always make me wonder about the people doing them. Surely they know something is out of the ordinary but they publish it anyways.

A better comparison would have been the 15R with the Akrapovic system and upmap.

Would have been a fun day though. Can't wait to get the 15R to the drag strip once it reopens.

Damn....I am always riding from 150-180......how many times am I going to get beat? :)

I'm ready to do this test with the 15R and Akra slip on/Up Map The added pull/power and sound is amazing! I know the P1 would eventually catch me past 200 mph but it's going to take some distance and it will also take over 1+ million to do it!

It is the fueling that is the problem. Most of you guys with tuneboys and other tuners know that. Had the 1299 had a tuner or race ECU, I think it would have fared better.

I'm a big Corvette fan and have owned a bunch of them including a 2009 Z06. I still follow the C7s closely. That cars top speed was severely hampered by the big spoiler which they put on for high speed stability on a road course. It was a little hard to tell in the pics, but I think the one on that car was actually the taller of the two that are available on the car. The 1/4 mile time was also ..... Non Zs have run that time. There are a number of folks in the 10s in the Z.

I like a lot of the ideas being put forth. I was thinking either restrictive exhaust, including the flapper valve getting stuck or flapping around and impeding exhaust flow... Or a result of the terrible fueling required to pass emissions. I am also convinced that the stock air filter is downright strangling the bike.

Cheers and thanks for all the feedback.

Good call on the 1/4. I just looked online and see 10s from bone stock 2015 Z06s.

Something is up there for sure.

Nope.

As helping a editor for a popular motorcycle magazine, and being his riding partner, I can tell you these test are about worthless.

Many let their personal bias carry into the ride/results.

The fact the 1/4 time were great shows no mechanical error.

The other bikes could have been modded much more then what was told to the editor, who admits mods got through the screening.

No tune, verses a custom tuned 1000rr that usually will walk away from a pani at higher speeds redlined, is common.

Even rookies in a 2005 lS2 pull mid 12's

While some were getting high 10's

Manual trans leave a lot of room for error, I didn't read who had what.

If a driver no matter how skilled is just going through motions, make these numbers worthless.

I would have liked to see an unrestricted ZX-14R included in the test. The big 1,441cc I4 does not lose any steam at high speeds. This sort of test is what hyper bikes are made for, but these guys used roadracing bikes.

Very nice. How much of a difference is there between the homologated Akrapovic and the full system?

Burt Munro took a 1920 950cc Indian Scout to 190mph on salt in 1967. Any bike can be made to go faster, even a 1299. And you can bet next year they'll be one faster still. At some point you have to just enjoy what you're riding at any speed.

That H2 is one ugly POS...

The Beeee Emmmm aint bad but I could not live with the odd headlights

Yami...... See comment about headlights above.....

If I cannot have one of the cars.....I will keep the Pani....

I thought there was a noticeable difference in both torque and power..also the sound obviously is deeper which is great. I haven't taken it to the dyno for the numbers yet but could tell right away on the extra grunt and pull.

Very nice.
Think the difference is worth the cost of doing it?
