Cylinder shutdown at idle

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Most likely programming in the ECU to shut down spark and injectors. From some searching, the 18's and 19's only needed an ECU update to add the cylinder shutdown. So no separate system needed

Idk but I don’t like it. It’s not as bad as auto stop start
It might be able to be turned off on my SF but haven't looked yet. It does work at keeping things cooler at idle. The only negative for me is the slight sputter delay on takeoff from let's say a traffic light. I burp the throttle just before takeoff to shut it off (wake it up):)

Believe it or not I am still waiting for delivery, spoke to the dealership last week and they said that they have all of my accessories and exhaust ready to go but just waiting for the bike. Hopefully within the next 6-8 weeks.

If you let the clutch out just a hair it will set all cylinders firing so should not give any problems taking off. You can hear it cut in and out by moving the clutch in and out a few mm with it in gear.
Definitely keeps the bike cooler in traffic

This is exactly what I have made into a habit.

Thanks:)

Sorry just to be clear letting the clutch out just enough to get the cylinders all firing does not keep the bike cooler. It is the 2 cylinder cut that makes it cooler.

Although having all 4 cylinders firing sounds way cooler [emoji41]

Correct, letting out the clutch a fraction activates the rear cylinders and generates heat. But, if you let out the clutch a fraction to activate the cylinders you won't need as much throttle to take off from dead stop and decreases the likelihood of stalling from not giving it enough throttle from dead stop.
It only takes a millisecond for the cylinders to fire up, anyone behind you would never know you took longer than normal to set off from a light or stop sign

Can’t wait to experience this with my new favorite exhaust installed. Factory exhaust is 4-2-1-2 so both sides of the factory muffler assembly are active even during cylinder deactivation.
With an Akra or some other exhaust only one side will be emitting exhaust during cylinder deact.

It’s cool with the “twin pulse” firing order on this bike how much deeper it sounds once the clutch switch has been released even with just the stock exhaust

Far out guys, I am just watering at the mouth, my SF can't get here quick enough.
At least when it finally does... it’s not going to be plagued with recalls. Promise it’s worth the wait. Print out a big picture for ur wall so u can look at it every hour of every day until delivery day

R u gonna have a pile of parts waiting to install by the time the bike arrives?

Ok, Akra slip ons, DP carbon tank cover, DP carbon generator cover, DP heel guards, DP turn indicators and DP carbon licence plate holder, DP carbon frame covers, DP front sprocket cover, DP carbon front and rear fenders, DP swing arm cover, Evotech rad guards and a whole lot of Proti hardware as well.

does anyone know when letting out the clutch how far away from the bar the clutch switch should click ? i think mine is out of adjustment because of my crg levers. the switch operates to far near full release i think
