So I've been looking into getting a new suit as my old 1-piece has seen better days... I've found some deals on D-Air Misano, but it would be shipped from Italy to USA.

I've heard some rumors that Dainese USA will not work on the suit if I purchased it outside of the US. Can anyone confirm this?

Probably true as AGV USA won't work on my Pista that was shipped from Europe.

Oh man. I saw that and wonder why it was so much cheaper than USA. You would think USA had better prices.

You may want to wait little bit because I think they will have sale as the new model comes out (don't know how long) but I don't know how soon you need a suit

i don't see how they can't support it,hardly like they are doing the work for free i think it's $300 just to get the airbag put back in place and then if you have repairs you need to pay extra for it.

the real problem i see with this suit is the turnaround time, my friend crashed his mid season and repair time was 5 weeks so you have to have a backup suit.

that's complete BS you either support your product or you don't.

When companies do this i stop supporting them.

Yeah I don't plan to buy another AGV. But more because Arai fits better. :D

Seriously though. Cheek tab broken off fist time I pull them off...on a $1300 helmet...

I agree with you there reganc, I sure hope this technology expands quick so the prices can be more affordable, and with increased competition Dainese could stop playing games. I've had my suit repaired locally before by Barnacle Bill's Barnacle Bill's Racing Leather but It's time for a new one, was hoping to get something before the first track day in February.

And the turn around time is concerning as well... 2 suits is defintiely something to consider with the d-air. BUT DAMN THESE PRICES!

The other issue with it is the Weight it's really heavy and the kangaroo is $3500.

I think you can get one in the US for $2k but keep your spare suit.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Any feedback about it on your end?

the vest is a good option, i have a number of friends who use it and it works.

Personally if the d Air was lighter and repair time was not ridiculous I would buy one but the vest is a very strong product.

Thanks, you gentleman have a very valid point. Reason I like the d-air option was for it's shoulder protection. In the past 3 years my friends who high-sided all had shoulder related injuries. I'm curious to see how the vest performs in that aspect. All the tests I've found so far don't really show much protection in the shoulder area.

I have one wear it every track session gives me more confidence. I have a buddy that crashed in it worked great.

Last year when I got my dair Dainese Usa would only repair suits purchased in the states. I got mine from motowheels, a vender on this forum. I didn't wad up last year so I don't have an experience with sending it back, a guy I know did crash with his dair and a hit vest on top. He said it was like landing on a pillow, he wasn't even sore. I did not see him later in the season but he did text me and said the suit looked brand new when he got it back from repacking and repairs.

Sometime last year, I visited my dealer who had Dianese reps in for a day for customer fitted suit measurements.

When he saw me, he suggested first trying on a couple of off the shelves D-Air suits.

One was too small and the other too big.

The suits have to fit very snuggly all around, otherwise, the air bags do not provide the protective support that they are designed to do.

So fit is very important.

He offered to do custom measurements and build a suit for about $5K, but I would have had to come back to the shop a few hours later as the custom fitting was by appointment.

So I would suggest you find a local dealer and try the suit one that you plan on buying just to make sure it fits correctly.

And yes the Dianese guy told me that the only suits they service are for those bought through the American distribution.

is alpine stars even an option? i know you can get the airbag system for their race replica but i think its crazy money

It's also vaporwear in the states. I have a Race Replica and have been trying for years to get it. Every time they tell me "next year". Supposedly it was over a legal battle with Dainese (which I understand was recently settled), so hopefully it happens this year.

ETA: After examining a D-Air, if it fits you, I would get one of those instead anyway. Just a better suit than my Race Replica, even ignoring the airbag system IMHO.
