Hi guys

I have raced and done track days in the past. Prior to having a dedicated track bike I just used to swap bodywork, lights, etc. back and forth. This was easy on my previous bike GSXR1000.

I would like to do the same on my 1199 but it doesn't look like a straight forward process.

So I was thinking I would just get a new tail section and leave the bodywork on but I am not sure if I can use the oem fairing stay with race bodywork.

Has anyone done this or have any suggestions ?

Thanks Dean

Of course you can use the OEM fairing stay with race glass. Removing and re-installing the headlight unit can be a chore otherwise straight forward.

You might consider using the DP fairings for ease of use.

I will have some fairings for sale here in a couple weeks, including the tank cover and motoholders front fairing stay. Don't think these will fit on your 1199 though...

I swap bodywork on my 1199; it's honestly not that bad. The first time will be a pain, but after that it gets pretty easy, once you figure out how everything comes apart/goes back together. Upper side fairings are a little tricky as there are plastic tabs holding them to the frame in addition to the screws - slide the fairing forward to release the tabs. Once you get them off you'll see. Nose has a large "plug" that pops into a hole on the headlight. It takes some muscle and faith to get that off the first time. Other than that there's not too much tricky with the fairings. Putting the track fairings on is easy.

There are plug kits available for the taillight, kickstand, etc. to prevent warning lights on the dash, if you want to do that.

I have a 2015 1199r, so think your fairings will work .

Are you selling the DP fairings ?
