Hey guys.....stay tuned for a potential AIM full dash solution for late model Panigale....I will be visiting AIM HQ on Wedensday for this matter.....

Awesome!

I was planning to get in touch with you soon to discuss the EVO4S but this might be a better solution šŸ‘

Repost LAP timers

Similar fight and discussion for the past few yearsā€¦.DDA is not worth a single dollar, too many inaccuracies and useless data with the proprietary software. Caused @3y of frustration scouring the internet to make it useful.

Previous gen AIM camera system has been great, just be cautious about firmware updates and using the SD for new overlays and assigned channels, not as easy as an iPhone.

Still running my crazy Frankenstein install with the video module on the battery cover. Audio has been an issue, be back at the track next weekend to test that out and will post the resultsā€¦and if beneficialā€¦what I did.

The auto on/off is worth the price of my system. You donā€™t miss a thing, just remember to disconnect the main ECU connector overnight or it will drain the battery.

Been following AIMā€™s new system, but now I see the price my little low HD version is fine.

like there are not several posts about sprockets or will a full akrapovic fit my yada yada bike?

new info especially the AIM new system, and the revelation from Daniel.....things move on..

No worries @andyb just jumping the retype on one of my posts.

The #1 advantage for me is that the data is a comparable, worked with a pro-AMA rider last year and let him take my bike out for what he felt was my ā€œobtainableā€ lap time and compared it to my data. The biggest thing was the ā€œwindowā€ between trailing brakes in to applying throttleā€¦huge chucks of time there, especially on long double apex turns.

As a side note, this same pro-racer on a bone stock M 1000R said it was challenging keeping up with my ā€˜23 V4 on the back straight. What we have between our knees is crazy fast!

Thatā€™s the most useful data format Iā€™ve seen.

Something RoadracerX shared with me from our coaching day, data from one of his faster laps.

I remember that thread and thinking that there must be a neater way to install this bulky stuff. I wonder if the SmartyCam 3 Sport or other traditional style SmartyCam would be a neater installation, but then where do you mount the DL AND the cameraā€¦ probably much about the same issue, although the Sport camera seems very small.

I thought the system was supposed to be on and off with the bike?

You could always add the SuperStock kit to the DDA for an additional $4,500 and install the pressure sensors and potentiometers and still have no automated data overlays and videoā€¦ AIM starts to look decent value.

Why would you do EVO4S?

Why not?

Although the ACC/Solo2 kit is compelling it doesn't offer the functionality of other display/loggers like added visual readings and inputs.

If the ACC/Solo2 was offered with a more functional display I'd be a little more interested.

AIM makes data logger dashes, so do several other brands. EVO4S is way more then is needed, expensive if you throw a dash on, also takes up a lot of room.

I know what AIM make and from that the EVO4S is what I need. It isnā€™t cheap but I do have a place for it and it wonā€™t take up any extra room either.

But Iā€™ll wait to hear from Daniel before going ahead with it.

I wouldnā€™t have an issue with the data logger not having a display. The bikeā€™s already got a display and the data can be looked at later in the software and on the video overlays.

What would you locate the EVO4S?

I like proper rev lights and a real time temperature gauge.

In the battery compartment.

Thereā€™s space in there for it?!

Having a DL that could be hidden away and just a camera to mount would be a lot neater and simpler to do.

Not with the stock battery.

If data and video recording is all you need the this would be an even better choice for you

The stock battery on my bike is lithium and thereā€™s no space for anything as far as I can tell.

I didnā€™t realise it had the DL built in.

The product description states that itā€™s for cars. As thereā€™s no mention of bikes Iā€™m not sure it would be suitable.

All I really want is an accurate lap timer, preferably one that registers the track and turns on automatically, any suggestions on a kit for that guys?

I imagine that if you only have one camera then it might be better on the back of the bike to add body positioning alongside the data? A front-mounted camera simply shows the track, which is nice but maybe not as informative?

That dual camera setup has a HUGE controllerā€¦ not really sure why it needs to be quite so big.

AIM Solo 2 is doing that.

The only annoying thing in it is that you have to move your head down to see it.

Otherwise I2M and Motec or Magneti Marelli doing this as well

Iā€™ve only really looked at the AIM stuff so far so I couldnā€™t comment on others. Considering what you were talking about in your thread (when you are getting on the throttle, etc) Iā€™d have thought more data than just the lap time would be useful.

Doesnā€™t your bike have a built-in lap timer? If it does then have you found it unreliable?

I think things like Racebox are ok just for getting lap times but Iā€™m not sure how accurate they are. Iā€™ve read mixed reports.

The Solo 2 looks like a decent lap timer - no ECU connection though, but if a lap timer is all you wantā€¦

Because AIM is not a Chinese startup but a dinosaur stuck on old tech that cost silly money.

There is no real competition in the space, hence most of products are bulky
