Has anyone had to replace their starter yet? Bike left me stranded today, local luckily. Fuel pump still works, starter relay still engages, no popped fuses, kick stand switch operates correctly and push start turns motor over cleanly.
Checked the starter, have 12v at leads. Also have greasy film around the mating surface. All signs point to a starter replace. We'll see what the dealer finds next week.

The bike has always taken a long time to start once it's hot since day one. Makes sense the starter would die someday with as much abuse it's taken.

I think there has been a few guys stated on here they have, not me luckily, would be a warranty issue I would assume. Use to work in the auto trade new car dealership and numerous new cars had starters fail, found loose earth wires caused the issue of hard starting, causing the starter to be overloaded and causing failure, once these rectified, car would fire up first pop and owners would comment on what a different car.
Question, what was it like to push start?

My starter fried at 400 miles and was replaced. The dealer said there was a bad batch of starters on the first production bikes. No problems so far with the the replacement after 12000 miles.

I swapped out my starter with a GP Switch (Scrapper X dialled me into this one) and I believe Ducati Omaha have them. Awesome starter switch.

Another tip, when your starting the bike, do not apply any gas .. just push the button.

Yeah, my starter went out at 110 miles. Bike wasn't even 24 hours old. Once replaced. all was well. Shawn

Slight update: Redline bench tested the starter, sure enough it was locked up frozen. Got to wait for Ducati to approve the warranty then they will order a new starter. Then slow boat from Italy to shop. Then install and test. Wow! So should be another two weeks for my ride to be in captivity. :(

So how long does an average warranty item take? Ducati still hasn't replied to the dealers warranty request... They say Ducati is on a summer vacation. Must be nice!!!

At this point I can't tell if I'm frustrated with Redline or Ducati of America... I just want my friggin' bike back!

Wow yea thats crazy, took 3 days for me to get the okay, then another week to get the part.

Got bad communication from the one who answered the phone. I was called back later. Said starter should be here this week. Warranty was granted.
And there are people at Ducati during vacation week, just minimal staff. So that was bad information.
I'm more relaxed now.
