Just came back from frasers today. They have 2 1199s on the showroom floor. One in the crate as shown on the pic in this thread and the other one you can sit on.

I sat on it today and it feels great. Much better body position than the 1198.

Looking good.

grrr!
test ride it to Melbourne will you !
if you dont mine lol

That's an epic number plate holder!

There is another shot in another forum of the second bike on the showroom floor and the plate holder looks like the others we have seen in photos.

There is a protective cover on this one just to protect it for transport in the crate I suppose.

Doubt it. As per the other thread.

A bit more info...

This looks correctly put together with the mudguard.

The bike, according to ADR must have a mudguard equal to no less than the width of the tyre. So there's going to be a big slab of plastic on it.

It must also extend down far enough, so that the reflector (normally at the bottom of the mudguard) is no higher than a 45 degree angle to the rear axle.

It's normally removed for aesthetics.

when into fraser today, got to start it up and it blew smoke when I started it. The guy there said its was just because it was cold and hadn't been warmed up properly. Im a little sceptical about it, but Im sure once the bike is run in and done some miles it will go away.

Sitting on the bike blew me away, its so comfortable and narrow compared to the 1198sp. Ergonomics on this bike is light years ahead wider handlebars feels really natural and seating over the fuel tank is snug.

As for the number plate holder Rhino is correct, if you purchase the short license holder it will be illegal in Australia. So run it at your own risk. They have to legally sell you the bike with the big dirty plastic guard.

The bike isn't a demo, but for the technicians to get there teeth into and there going to make it into a track bike, so there's no riding it.

No response on the delivery date only that they don't know exact dates, but still expecting the S model to be first and in early may. Found out I'm lucky number 13.

I'm going to head out to the dealership tomorrow, drove back from byron early to check it out. Will post some more pics and if I get the chance, yewww!!!

So what was better leaving the good weather we are finally having or just sitting on the bike:)

Think I may run the risk re the number plate holder.

I know i will be loosing the whole thing !!

looking at mounting plate in CF surround and mounting off the passenger peg mounts try to get down near exhast loop with some rizoma turn signals.
glad our plate in OZ is small anyway not like some euro types

haha finally seeing the bike, sitting on it, and turning it over to hear its seductive note; Hands down better than no surf and nice weather. pffft

Got a point there:)

Weather today was warm and sunny and Black Rock was going off.......but it doesnt help me from drooling to see the bike:D

Just came back from Frasers Syd. This puppy is soooo schweeeeet!!!!
Was a little apprehensive about the deposit I put down sight unseen a few weeks ago, but all that was put to rest within the first few seconds.

I'm about 5'8 (173cm), and out of the box the unit that was on the the floor, I was able to just tippy toe both feet at the same time with my work shoes. With riding boots it should be a little more comfortable. I hoping there is a little vertical adjustment, another inch or so should be just dandy.
One thing that did stand out was the wires protruding from the rear shock reservoirs on the "S" juts out into my inner thigh a bit. Can't notice it when feet are in riding position, but will be a PITA at traffic lights.
Other than this, she feels REALLY light... like easier to man handle than the Ninja 250 I'm on atm.

One of the sales guys was kind enough to wheel her out and fire up. There was plenty of smoke coming from the exhaust, just as mentioned in one of the other threads, but we were assured that after a few kms, it will settle. (fingers crossed)
I'm not too concerned about the smoke, but I am a little concerned for my neighbours. This puppy is LOUD. Like REALLY REALLY loud. Significantly louder than an 1198s with full termis.
If other motorists don't see you, they'll definitely hear you.. and from quite a distance away.

Anyhoo... long and the short... can't wait until I get mine..

Feck. I'm 5'7. Hopefully I have longer legs than you or I'm in trouble.

EDIT: Just compared seat height to 848, which I'm pretty comfortable on. Practically identical. Short arse :)

I'm sure we're all different in many ways ... but have hope.

I'm just back from Frasers.

It's on the shworoom, under wraps. The wrap was pulled off, the bike started up and I sat on it.

As mentioned in other posts it feels tight. Also feels light and small and easy.

I'm 5'7" and everything fell right into place. Natch that's without the ability to ride it but the helpful staff held it upright whilst I got my riding position as good as poss whilst standing dead still.

It feels much better than my mates 1198 S - smaller, lighter, easier, nicer ...

The feel for delivery dates is that everyone world wide is behind schedule and in Oz we 'll just get what we get ... but nice to know the trickle has commenced.

One comment from an old hand at the dealer is that he can't remember there ever being a launch so well supported for a new bike.

Seems like those who want to order today may have to wait 8 or so months.

Having sat on it I can say that the excitement is understandable and the wait should (hopefully) be worth it.

Bit more of an update for us Aussies.....It appears that the first shipment of 30 bikes S and TRI as they havent started production on the Standard should get here mid April.
Better news will be available at the end of next week, but all looking good for a continue suppy of bikes from mid April onwards:)

Anyone else seen the 1199 in dealers in oz other than frasers Sydney?

you won't see it anywhere else. The bike won't be on the floor much longer the technicians are using it to get there training and the other bike has other plans than sitting on the floor.

Gah! I need to take up smoking... The tension and wait continues, it is fun though...in a sadistic way

You have no idea!

I was late with my order, and initial delivery date was July.

Might be able to get through to the May delivery with a cancellation though.

Still at least a month away :(

Out of curiosity... when did you plonk down your 500?
