Diagnostic Port

Was looking today for the diagnostic port under the front sear and found what appears to be the service diagnostic port however there appears to be something already plugged into the port?
I don’t want to go disconnecting anything until I first know what I am disconnecting
can someone tell me what is plugged into the diagnostic service port and if this is the right port that I should be using to connect to?
is it safe to disconnect what is plugged in already to that port? I am trying to reset the oil service light

That is the cap for the port. Just pop it out to use the port. It is captured by the attached loop so you don’t lose it. The port needs to be covered when not in use.
 
There seems to be another wire connected to the end of that port connector
one wire on each end joined together at the connector
what is the other wire for?

The extra thing you’re looking at is the tether for the cap. Disconnect the cap and see for yourself.
