did ducati make the same mistake on the v4

I dont know if this is true but on the 1199 ducati made the mistake of incorporating the mirrors with the windscreen. meaning you cant change the wind screen without taking of the mirrors and usually without taking off the entire front.

on the 1299 the mirrors were moved like the 1098/1198 series so you can and had nothing to do with the windscreen.

is it me or did they do this again with the v4. anybody who took off the mirrors with the 1199 knows how hard they are to put back on with the connectors and the wires pushed in the small space.

this would be an epic fail along the lines of no oil viewer and melting bottom fairing from exhaust. 1199 first run guys know what im talking about.

as usual ducati fully thinking things out half way.

for all you claiming that the 1199 mirrors are not a problem do me a favor. make a short video of you taking off and installing the mirrors. this shouldnt take no longer than say 10 min right (one side). would love to see it. please dont strip those screws that you will be accessing when you do it would hate for you to have to spend 10 bucks on screws. then after you are done say this to yourself. why on earth do i have to take off mirrors to change a windscreen. while you are at it ask why the mirrors are in a case that move via vibration and are not the complete housing like on the bmw those mirrors actually work.

I have to agree with Mark on this one, the mirrors on the 1199 is a pain in the arse. But it's the same design on a lot of bikes, mirrors bolts to front fairing/fairing bracket/windscreen, it limits the number of mounts points, which is a smart design.

Let's see a video of you doing it that takes longer.

are you literate? i said it is a problem to change them. you say its not. so show me how easy it is. lets see you take off one side mirror and get it back on in under 10 min with that little wire and clip in that little housing. then get those screws in there so it threads and keep the mirrors on all by yourself. ill wait for your video.

ill be waiting a long time. i bet you never even took them off before.

the 1299 it was changed. thats why i made the comment now it looks like it was changed back.

Yeah I'm literate. Guess you're not. Why don't you show me how hard it is. 2 screws and a connector. I wanna see a video of you screwing that up so badly it takes more than 10 minutes. I'm asking you to do the exact same thing you asked, but somehow I'm the ........ OK.

This is my bike at the track. So yeah, I've taken the mirrors off. And put them back on. I don't go to the dealer for every little thing.

Obviously you never put the mirrors back on first the screws are a pain in the ... cause the mirror has to sit perfect. Second the wire unless u rig in some other way that was intended which u probably do is suppose to go inside the mirror housing so your the only one in this entire forum that never had a problem with the mirrors so congrats to you. To everyone else you know the mirrors are a pain in the .... And so does this clown cause he won't post the video cause he can't

Oh ps your mirrors won't even fit on with that fairing so just proves you know nothing how do you put the wire through the fairing lol

I have not replaced my windscreen since right after I got my bike nearly five years ago, but I agree it's a pain in the .... And I'm a pretty good back yard mechanic.

No .... ........ Mirrors don't go on race fairings.

Take mirrors off, two whole screws per mirror. Disconnect mirror. Push the connector back down between the fairing stay and the black plastic that covers it. If you'd actually had the fairings off you'd know there's plenty of room to do this. Mount race fairings and go to the track. When you switch it back (which I do, because I ride street and track) then all you need to do is use tweezers to recover the connector, plug it in and tighten two screws. It's not hard.

Still waiting on your video showing me how you can .... this up for more than 10 minutes per mirror.

It is a bit of a pain to arrange the connector and wire the way they came from the factory. If you don't do that I could see it taking less than 10 min (more like 3 min).
