I used to race years ago, so its not like I have never worn one. My question is I always wear a leather jacket boots and gloves, but been itching to put on a suit. The problem is I kinda feel like a goon on the street with one. I guess as I get older it seems more dangerous, and I sometimes fool around, just a tad.

Commuting No, canyon and aggressive riding Yes.

When I see someone in a full suit I look at their bike and then judge haha. If someone is on a Duc, I think, oh, that guy is serious. If they are on anything else, I think, hmmmmm, they need a new bike. Haha my $.02.

It's funny as the perception is pretty well the opposite in Europe. As in you look weird without. I have settled in between wear new drake air pants. Seems a good compromise. In the end who cares go for it.

definitely. .... what anyone else thinks about how you look.

Pretty much what I was about to say on both counts. It's a weird American preoccupation - I wear a one piece. I also do not care about knee pucks being scraped or how wide my chicken strips are. Ride your own ride.

Driving to doctors appts and stuff like that no. Spirited rides yes.

My leathers are two piece and I typically only wore the jacket for running around town but would put on the pants if I was "riding." However, I just picked up some Aerostich Transit leathers (full GoreTex) and sized them so that they fit over my street clothes. I've been wearing them to commute and feel much safer. They're also much more understated than my track leathers so don't scream "knee down" to the cops.

99% of the time I wear my one piece suit, I'd rather be wearing it and end up not needing it than lay the bike down and get ...... nasty road rash. I've been through laying a bike down with and without leathers...not fun either way, but I will always opt for the most protection available. If you feel like you should be wearing them, put em on!

I wear a two piece on the road at all times.
Seen to many folks getting hurt riding their bike to the gas station around the corner in street clothes.
Could give a .... about people that have no clue about motorcycle safety, its my body not theirs. :D

Yep. I piece race suit + back protect on spirited road rides.... Jacket\back protector\boots\gloves\jeans for commuting.

Sunny weather race suit
Wet 2 piece textiles

Won't ride without bike gear on the road. In the uk if you don't wear protective gear on the road it's frowned upon. And I'd rather be protected than risking unnecessary injury in the unfortunate event

I never used to, but now I wear a one piece on spirited solo and group rides. Other times, I wear Delta Pro C2 pants and zip them to my jacket.

The other day I saw someone with shorts, a t-shirt, and a ball cap... and gloves on a GSXR. I thought, what a tool... at least his knuckles won't be scraped up and require skin grafts like the rest of his body if he even survives a crash.

What I thought looked cool in my naive, non-riding days clearly makes you look like an idiot in reality.

Every time I go for a real ride for a few hours or all day I wear my one piece.
Commute to work or out for drinks or to dinner, no I'll throw on Kevlar jeans but always still wear my boots, riding in shoes sucks.

I think the best way to look at it is: if you had the opportunity to wear the most you could to keep you safe, why wouldn't you?

Anything less is an unnecessary sacrifice.

I wear a two piece when I occasionally ride the street a full race suit just looks a little ott for me.
