Does anyone wear full leathers on street

Tarmac is no respecter of where you are riding to, for how long or why. The net result is the same. If you crash and you chose to wear less protection because you felt it unnecessary on a particular ride, then you are doing yourself a disservice and increasing the chances of a prolonged or avoidable spell in hospital. I make no distinction between one ride or another and always wear full leathers, regardless. Cheaper to replace them than to have to endure a skin graft or worse.

I lived in Germany for the last two years, so I wear a one-piece sometimes here in the US, and a two piece nylon Dainese set-up other times. Jacket and jeans if I'm just taking it in for a service.

I always wear my gear as I feel much more comfortable with it ALL on. I wear a Dainese two piece leather or textile (depending on weather) with my boots, gloves, and back protector. Doesn't matter what others think cause the road don't give a .... about you if you go down.

Now, I can say years ago I didn't wear all the gear but now I'm all about safety and want to go home the way I left the house. I cringe at all who don't wear the proper gear and it especially angers me when I see the same non gear wearing squids ride with their kids and they don't have the proper gear cause they don't know any better...

Don't be a squid, wear the proper gear!

This. I have pics/vids of me doing wheelies in tank tops and flip flops (don't EVER forget the LV Murse) because I thought it was cool.

Then I lost a bro. Then I got married. Then I had a son (actually, my wife did).

I wear 2 piece leathers (zip together) 99.9% of the time. I'm hoping to grab a pair of Kevlar armoured jeans so I can throw those on for the mandatory Starbucks poser sessions.

In England . . . 1 piece leathers, back protector, boots.
In Chicago's northern suburbs . . . jeans and a jacket, motorcycle shoes with ankle protection.
What I find incredible is that there is no helmet requirement in Illinois . . . and there was me feeling vulnerable in jeans. I have no idea how i'd feel with flies in my teeth and sunglasses to protect me if I ever bounce down the interstate.

I don't think there should be a helmet law. If someone doesn't want to wear one, they're only putting themselves at risk. I feel like riders should have the choice. In states that have a helmet law you'll see riders wearing little half-helmets as if that's really going to protect their head in a crash.

I have suffered gravel rash, low speed spill both elbows and forearms took the brunt of it. Having bits of gravel picked out if your bare skin is not fun and having to have dressing changed everyday can be tiresome. Could not wipe my own arse for a week, and even a breeze on my wounds would be painfull.

So when I see youtube videos of straightline heros guys flying down the Freeway somewhere in the US with teeshirts flapping away and riding up their backs it some what goes through me knowing the damage sliding on bare skin can do.

At least give yourself a fighting chance

Ride your own ride.

Pretty much sums it up completely.

Usually don't even remotely care what other people/rider think about my wardrobe (an indication of how well you understand and judge the implications from riding a motorcycle), chicken strips (an indication of lean angle and I usually try to reduce my lean angle since it makes me go faster around the track) or everything else...

Thanks for all the info, I might put it back on. Hopefully my old vanson fits, otherwise I"m upgrading.

Street Sunday riding?? He'll yeah!
Always 1 piece leather suit it doesn't matter if it is 95 degrees out there
Always dress to crash cause you'll never know

Commute and quick blasts out and about - 2 piece
Track Day or 'spirited riding' day - 1 piece race suit.

A friend of mine arrived at a bike crash not long after it had happened and picked up the guys's trainer with his foot still in it - someway down the road from where he was laying. Its debatable whether or not proper boots would have kept his foot on his leg but may have helped. I don't understand why some people don't wear gloves either - the first thing that people do is generally put their hands out to stop themselves. Even a cheap pair would help.

Still, each to their own, its up to them at the end of the day.

2 piece leathers that attach.. I may get a 1 piece suit for trackdays later but I always wear full equipment. You could still get rammed by another vehicle, even when standing still, so why not just wear a suit? Get one you like, makes it easier to just suit up and feel good..

I like kevlar reinforced jeans (and have a couple low-sides to prove their effectiveness) but have always struggled to find a good fit. Recently I've been using Bohn armor under my regular jeans and am happy with the feel and protection.

Depends on hot the day is and how long and aggressive I plan on riding. Weekend canyon rides with usually be with a one-piece, and other times will be two-piece with either a textile or leather pants. Of course, the type of boots and gloves will also change along with the pants depending on the situation.

At the very least, I wear a leather jacket (perforated) with back protection, armored impact points, textile pants with hip/bum, knee, shin armor, short boots with ankle, heel and toe protection, gloves, helmet (DOT/Snell)

Super hot days, I'll have a Veskimo active cooling backpack with 4 bottles of frozen water that will channel through my torso--lasts about 90 mins!

I used to wear a lot less when I was younger. I thought a leather jacket, jeans, gloves, helmet, and work boots was good enough.. until I saw others wearing similar take innocent falls with undesirable side effects.
