Does Rapid Bike Race or You Tune modify engine braking for the 1299?

I recently had a Rapid Bike Evo installed on my 2016 Ducati 1299. I would like to reduce the engine braking beyond what the EBC is capable of at setting 3. Rapid Bike Evo doesn't adjust the engine braking but I'd be willing to upgrade to the race version or add the You Tune module. Rapid Bike has told me that they don't think the race or You Tune can adjust the engine braking because it interferes with the factory EBC, but they are not sure. You can adjust engine braking on any Ducati model that doesn't have factory EBC.

Has anyone had any success adjusting engine braking using Rapid Bike controls (not factory EBC) for the 1299?

Do you know of any ECU flash that can adjust engine braking in the 1299? Brentuning tells me they cant. Rexxer says they can't either.

I have an FT ECU flash on my 2015 Yamaha R1 that is set to eliminate engine braking by allowing some air and fuel to continue to flow during deceleration. It really smooths the deceleration. The bike is not jerky, and it make great backfire noises. I would like the 1299 to do the same.

I'm having trouble understanding what you're trying to do. Why wouldn't you use the factory EBC to turn off or reduce engine braking? Off is off. I have the RB race on mine and use EBC to keep engine braking minimal but not off (I think). I'll have to double check whether I left it at 1 or off. I know I had too much and reduced it when I got the bike back after having the RB installed.

I too would prefer to increase the level of EBC. The RR has engine overrun in race mode which almost eliminates the engine braking altogether allowing you to coast somewhat.

I downloaded the Tuneboy software and scanned over the provided sample maps to see if it would modify the EBC and it appears that you can indeed adjust the EBC engine mapping just as you can change the downshift blipping delay, engine fueling, and duration if your installed module is equipped with the feature.

EBC Off = Maximum Engine Braking
EBC 1 = Less Engine Braking than off
EBC 2 = Less Engine Braking than EBC 1
EBC 3 = Min Engine Braking

The OP wants less Engine Braking than EBC 3.

If you wanted to use the RB engine braking, in theory you probably could set the factory EBC off (so as not to interfere) then set engine braking in RB Master. No idea if it will offer less engine braking than the onboard system. I'm having trouble understanding how it would work as the RB module doesn't actually control the throttle position, the ECU does that on a RBW system.

Hmf....I'll go look and see what I have and in the owners manual to see if my memory betrayed me. :(

If there was enough interest in this feature I could bring the request to the engineer and see what they can figure out. We have implemented similar in the S1000RR world previously.

Race Module and You Tune user here. You cannot adjust the EBC with the You Tune on the 1299.

I would still give the You Tune a shot if you already have the RB Module. I'm happy with mine. I like being able to adjust LC RPM's, playing with/monitoring AFR, etc. without having to plug in a laptop.

Thanks. That's what Yaman at Cycle Pro said. He then e-mailed me and said I could try the You Tune, but I couldn't return it if it didn't work. That would be an expensive roll of the dice. Thanks for confirming that You Tune won't adjust engine braking. If I can fine an ECU flash that allows adjusting the engine braking, I'll disconnect my RapidBike Evo.
