Double0's White Panigale

@double0 - you have one very tastefully pimped 1199.

Bike being in white is an excellent starting point :)

..... I won't even dare add the CNC red seat bolt I wanted, for fear of exceeding my Tric's tart factor :p

Well.....

I just got back from my dealer where I had my front forks replaced. Everything went smoothly. I must have had bad forks from day one because I don't ever remember my bike feeling this way. Maybe I'm just trippin. Anyways, the replaced forks are the updated version (2) which has supposedly fixed the known issue of the internal seal problem. Time will tell how these hold up but they feel solid!! And for those who say the Panigale never feels planted during full lean....I can't say I've been full lean on this bike yet but compared to my previous forks, these feel like they're nailed to the ground during any kind of lean. Never realized my forks were that out of wack. Figured they just needed to be dialed in and nothing more. Now I know!

While I was waiting for my bike to get done, I saw my dealer unload a brand new 2014 R model. I can confirm that it looks exactly the same and price is also the same. First one they received so far.

Time for a much needed update. Afterall, it's been a short while and some big changes are a comin! :)

Some goodies. Ohlins forks will arrive in couple weeks but that's all that's missing.

I decided to get some custom work done via powdercoating and figured may as well do whatever I can to match my current blue setup as close as possible. The finished result came out almost identical to my R decal kit. It's hard to tell under different lighting since the shade varies based on light. Took the TTX Ohlins spring off and get it powdered in a candy blue.

Next up is a new set of rearsets. After seeing a photo of his own bike with these badboys equipped on them, I figured I'd reach out to Hans (HQRacing) and discuss a possible purchase. Went ahead and ordered the aluminum set so that I could color match them to my bike. This was a bit tricky since powdercoating adds a layer of thickness to the metal and if the shop doesn't pay close attention to it and mask off certain parts properly, reassembling them will probably not happen due to the thickness preventing parts from fitting back in its place. Fortunately, my set turned out flawless and everything went back the way it was supposed to. I haven't got my pegs back but I'm having the pegs anodized black since powdercoating would basically make pegs useless and take away from its functionality. No choice but to anodize. Blue would have looked way off so I went with a black color to match the shifter/brake pedal rubbers which are obviously black as well.

Lastly, there has been a recent thread created with quite a bit of discussion about these wheels which I fell in love with the moment I saw them when (quackquack) linked them on a thread and I just had to have them. Although the original color looks nice, I had to stick to my color scheme and powdercoat them a candy blue as well. Some may think I'm crazy for buying a limited release replica wheel and switching up the color but hey, we all have different tastes and I do what satisfies me. Plus I like being different. Having a one off bike is my ultimate goal.

Here's a photo of them outside under the sun.

And another photo of them under white light. You can see how the color looks completely different depending on the type of light. All 3 of the parts are just like this. The rear spring looks darker than the others even under the sun because of the round surface. Since there is no flat surface on the spring, it reflects darker than the rearsets and wheels. Still came out awesome though.

Initially, I was toying with the idea of having them pinstripe/paint the grooves in each spoke in white but went against that idea after a while. I simply fell in love with the solid blue color and instead will probably just slap a OZ Racing decal in white instead of the orange that the wheel comes with or just do a white rim tape and call it a day. Here's a photo of the wheel when I was messing around with it on Microsoft Paint just to get an idea of how it would look.

When I first got them, I decided to throw them on the digital scale just to see how much they weighed. Here is a photo of the two wheels stacked on top of one another on the scale. Weighs 15.8 pounds without the spacers with the rear wheel weighing in at 8.4lbs.

I will probably be fitting the wheels and rearsets on within a week or maybe two. I'm supposed to have the Ohlins forks and TTX shock installed mid February so ideally I'd like to get the wheels on the bike so the suspension could be dialed in with them already on it. That way I could at least have a baseline setup for the suspension and I could fine tweak it according to my personal preferences. The Akrapovic exhaust will probably not go on for a little bit. I've got to save up some $$ first since these will need install and tuning done. I went a little crazy over this holiday season along with my birthday a month ago and my 7yr old son's birthday yesterday so I need to do some recovering financially. This is not intended to be a show bike or anything like that. I like modding my toys (cars and motorcycles). I will more than likely not track this bike either. Maybe once just to say I have but probably not. I'm considering buying an 05-08 600 to make a track toy and call it a day.

Well, until the parts are installed on the bike, these are all the photos for now. Hope you guys enjoy. And if not, thanks for viewing anyway :)

Thanks Randy and the guys @ Bellisimoto for the Akra and OZ wheels and also thanks to Hans (HQRacing) for the great communication via PM. Awesome experience and a pleasure to do business with.

your spring looks fantastic as i knew it would. the wheels are spectacular. what makes this bike even better is that you won't see it anywhere else. I'm jelous as white and blue are my 2 favorite colors. great job man very well done.

The bike and the mods are going to look hot man. Congrats. Now get some track bodywork and track that thing, lol.

....and Double0 will somehow manage to make this bike even MORE beautiful!

Love your bike man! F*** all the white haters!

That'll be a great color combo. I've seen a tri 675 r white with blue wheels and looks outstanding!

So now that the base wheels are off the bike, I figured I'd weigh them to see the exact weight savings since both wheels were weighed on the same scale and on the same surface so even if the actual weight is slightly off, the difference in weight should be the exact same, regardless of the scale being used.

20140214_162152_zpsfpm00wqz.jpg

Base Rear Wheel = 12.1 lbs
OZ Rear Wheel = 8.4 lbs

Base Front Wheel = 10 lbs
OZ Front Wheel = 7.4 lbs

Total weight of Base Wheels = 22.1 lbs
Total weight of OZ Wheels = 15.8 lbs

20140214_162227_zpsjes7pt4w.jpg

That's a total of 6.3 lbs of rotational mass when upgrading from the base wheels to aluminum OZ wheels. Even if I was a few ounces off, that's still about 5 1/2 lbs of rotational mass which is pretty significant.

Although the OZ wheels are currently mounted on the bike, I ran into a bearing problem with my rearsets and now have to wait some more before that gets sorted out. Therefore, I will hold off on posting any photos of the bike as it sits now. All I can say is......WOW! I'm beyond thrilled and the color matches my decals almost 100%.

I can't wait to see the final product, I am not a lover of going away from the red, however, better someone is different but what you do is top draw and looks great!

Bike looks good. I really like the wheels. Looking forward to seeing the bike with all of your new parts on it.

Here are some updated photos with the Akrapovic exhaust and HQ Racing Rearsets installed. May as well go ahead and get it all out of your systems about me not truly riding this beast like it is intended due to my big ol chicken strips. Don't worry. I can take it lol.

Check out that beautiful bluish tint of the titanium pipes. Drooooooooool!!!

20140323_102729_zpskdinxfpu.jpg

Just swapped out the reservoir fluids and figured may as well blue that up as well to show through the reservoir and clear brembo lines lol

20140322_165152_zpsvkalxi8m.jpg

This is the fluid used for the reservoirs since I'm sure someone is bound to ask me which fluid I'm running.

I like this photo a lot but this was before I had the rearsets put on.

20140318_164805_zps8db6thra.jpg

All that's left is the Ohlins forks and Ohlins TTX shock to be put on and I'm about done with this money pit..............that is until I get bored again lol.

Anyways, I wanna thank gigantor for being the patient SOB he is with my gazillion text messages about how to remove the stock exhaust and installing my Akra's as well as our moderator Phl for his awesome YouTube video on how to remove the stock cans and Zohsix01 for answering some questions about exhaust removal as well. Lastly, a hugeeeeee thanks to HQ Racing for helping me sort out the few problems I ran into with his rearsets. None of which were his fault or that of a bad product. I powdercoated a couple of spacers which I wasn't supposed to, ended up with a damaged bearing which he credited me back for the labor to remove and install new ones. I can't say enough about this guy's passion about this bike and passing along his generosity to fellow enthusiasts. Never have I experienced such customer service and that's saying a lot about someone who is overseas!! Top notch guy for sure. This forum is full of informative and generous enthusiasts. You guys all rock!

As always,

Enjoy.......or don't :)

Bike looks great, the blue on the akra is flowing so well with everything else!

Now ride that bich :D

Didn't you do the LED light as well ?

Was that hard ?

Yes I did. Wasn't hard at all, thanks to EvoL's diagram. I wrote up a how-to on here somewhere and posted photos to help others out.

Thanks for the kind words ScrapperX and Whoopazz.
