So dovi is in the mix (not that he would have won the title anyway) MM passes him and dovi has to follow and try to pass. in extream situations (needing to win) dovi crashes out of the race. This happened last year too at valencia. needed to win and he crashed out. the man just isnt championship material. doesnt have "IT" Sorry i like the guy and all but he will never win anything.

Better to go for it and crash rather than just ride around mid pack and do nothing. If I was a team owner it’s what I would want my riders to do, given thst the GP18 can win races. If he was on the crappy Aprilia and KTM machines, then ok...ride around and have fun. MM is a great champ for sure but I can’t stand him.

Undeniably, MM manages riding at and over 100% the best and luckiest.

Entering the turn a tad too hot, reduced stability and the front washes away. Same happened to JLo in misano.
Soft front has more sidewall flex too. Dunno which one dovi chose.

Dovi fought like a true warrior! They all do - piloting around on 220 mph missiles on a pack of cards width contract patch. Everytime Dovi loses, he learns a little something. Maybe one day he learns how to beat Marc week in and week out to take the trophy home.

Well he HAD to win to hold Marc up till next weekend. It was win or bin. He was never going to beat Marc to the title this year anyway, Marc has been way to consistent.

learning the limit means tossing it sometimes, that's why brought up luck earlier. MM leaned to extend the non-crash skill, plus mostly he uses FP4 to push ... pretty smart.

looking at JLo's statements of what he has been able to do in terms of pushing it hasn't been until middle of this season, where they only needed to do incremental adjustments to the bike to allow the rider to push (within a certain risk). before there were too many things going on, which they needed to understand and counteract before pushing close to the 100%.

MM has the advantage ehre with honda, long history, tight knit team and a big corp behind it with lots of data and smart people to address topics.

easy to ride bike (fast and forgiving) allows the rider to expose great skill.
the duc has been an untamed beast until not too long ago.

if i compare that to my recent experiences, running a quick lap at Barber is a piece of work on the 1199, doing that easily on a S1000RR almost feels like cheating. and i'm just a noob...

Dovi was on a soft front . More to do with bad choice more than choking .

Ducati made a big mistake letting Lorenzo go to Honda as he was there best chance of winning another world title. Dovi will never win a moto gp world title
I would love to see MM on the Ducati

He will fail like others did...!

As long as it does not rain . I feel Dovi is underrated but next year will tell I think he will have one last shot at it .

At the time Ducati decided to let JL go it was mostly the right decision. JL wasn't bringing in the goods. No one could have predicted JL would meld with the Ducati based on his performance prior to that decision.
MM has started riding more consistently this year. He has had no DNF's so far. If he continues this way next year then he'd be untouchable. Imo, Dovi's only chance next year is if he has no DNF's himself, with MM gathering a few.

Best bet for snatching points from MM will be JLo.

If dovi plays it cool, he might get out of it with a grin.
He evolved pretty well as a rider this year.

And cats only have 7 lives. One day MM won’t get up as quickly. Dealing with a popped shoulder from Reddings pat like that by laying down trackside and having a bystander pop it
It back in... wow.

Nah. JLo is too inconsistent, even after he's shown good on the Ducati he still can't stay on the bike.

(Motorsport-Total.com) - The 2018 MotoGP World Championship was decided in the 23rd of 24 rounds at the Japan Grand Prix.

In the hunt for Marc Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso folded the front wheel in the hairpin bend 10 of the Twin Ring Motegi and he fell to the ground. "I tried to win the race," says the Ducati star and then explains: "When I crashed, I was not over the limit.

I made only one small mistake because I wanted to prepare the corner exit. My acceleration was very good, but I was not close enough to Marc to overtake him on the corner exit. "

Marquez overtook Dovizioso four laps from the end of the race and took command in the duel for victory. The Italian had to react and wanted to accelerate optimally out of turn 10, in order to then be able to brake past curve 11 at the end of the straight. "If you look closely at the repetition, you realize that I prepared the curve too soon," says Dovizioso. "It was a small mistake. I had too much tilt and I had too much for the front tire. "

As in the previous races, the duel for the victory was Marquez against Dovizioso. "From sixth on the grid," Marquez looks at his race, "the first lap had to be perfect. And at the end of the first lap, I finished second behind Dovi. That was my main goal. Then I studied him and saw that I was strong enough to fight him. When I wanted to attack eight, nine laps before the end of the race, I made a mistake on the grass. It was a great show, but Dovi overtook me again. Then he really attacked, but I could follow him again. "

Marquez then planned an early attack so as not to make it to the final lap: "I had the same strategy as in Thailand, because in the last lap he would have had the chance to win because his acceleration was slightly better. When I saw Dovi OUT on the pit lane in the last lap, I was very happy because it meant I won the title. At the finish, I was disappointed anyway, because he should have been there. He drove a great season and today is a very good race. "

Dovizioso self-confident: "We are as strong as he is"
As always, Dovizioso is a fair sportsman and praises his opponent's strength: "I think he did something special today to stay with me until the last seven laps. I can only congratulate him and his team. They have again shown a special year and deserved to win. They did better than anyone else. "Still, he is convinced," Marc's achievements are incredible, but he's not unbeatable. "

Self-confidence pulls the Italian from its current form. "Desmo Dovi" can now win on every track. That's why he says, "We are as strong as he is now, but he has won the title. Even today, only I could fight him. Still, it was not enough. I am very satisfied with our current level. We are also better prepared for the next season than we were this year. We did not find anything special, but we found something everywhere with hard work. I am very satisfied with that."

In the remaining three races Dovizioso is still defending his runner-up title against Valentino Rossi, with the Yamaha rider just nine points behind. "Now it's time for second place", "Dovi" set new goals. "Valentino is not that strong this year, but he always scores points and is the best Yamaha rider. We have to take care of him. "Next weekend Phillip Island is on the program, which on paper is not optimal for Ducati, but for the Yamaha could accommodate.

MM on another bike would be the greatest test of his ability. Everyone know his inate ability to control the Honda when he rides to the edge then beyond it. Lets see how well he fares on some non-Honda tackle for a change. His dominance in MotoGP will make for a very boring 2019 season unless Ducati step up to the plate with something new and a good set of riders. Bautista at Philip Island shoud be entertaining.

Yeah, as much as i like Petrux, he ain’t gonna cut it.

JLo, now kinda having mastered the duc, should be a breeze to watch on the honda.

Man, WC on the yamaha, tamed the red bull - the honda should be a walk in the park!

Must admit MM's RC213 wasn't the best bike on the grid in more than one occasion.

Who's to say that if Ducati can demonstrate a superior package and throw in a bunch of money, MM won't bite.
