Question for the suspension gurus

will dropping the forks 3 or 4 mm (less fork showing on top) Give me better feel on the front?

I have a 19 V4s, and i will like to feel the front a little more planted midcorner and exit

sometimes it a little light

100% yes it will.
I moved mine flush with the triple clamps to alleviate some of the forward bias and make my wrists feel better on the street but now that I pretty much only ride on the track I dropped them down 5mm showing to get a lot more feel on the front since I like that when I’m coming through a corner hard on the brakes.

Edit: wait you’re saying less on the top. That will reduce front end feel as it will move weight bias off the front. Will feel a lot better on your wrists and I like it that way for road riding. The trade off is losing feel on the front tire some. The more fork showing, the more “bite” you will get generally speaking on the tire.

On my 1199S, I dropped my forks to flush with the top triple- to alleviate wrist pressure. It certainly did that but now the bike does not turn as easy as before. So I’m probably going the lower the front again soon. The next step will be to find a way to lower the rear to balance things out. Experts may say doing so will slow the steering again—:).

Since the stock dogbone is already at the shortest position, I’m considering maybe shortening the shock by turning the top threads (with shock removed)

I would run this stuff by a professional suspension tuner before you head down a rabbit hole

Oh I’ve done these things before on my previous 1098–I know what these changes do. Simple physics regarding raising/lowering the front. I knew dropping my forks (admittedly only a few mm) would slow my steering. So will lowering the rear.
