Dry slipper clutch conversion question

I checked on EVRs website and they have 1199 and 1299 dry slipper clutch kit that comes with a dry clutch, clutch plates, pressure plate, springs, retainers and basket. But on the website it says for dry clutch models only. SLIPPER CLUTCHES Ducati Dry Complete CTS slipper dry kit Ducati V2 + basket Z48 basket.

But when I emailed them to ask if it would fit into a 1199 or 1299 they responded that it would only work with a bike that came with a dry clutch. I dont recall any 1199s or 1299s coming with a dry clutch. So how could it be installed? Are their any other components that are needed for it to be installed? When I looked on the stm site it showed this for the 1199. STM Italy

Why can the stm dry kit work with the 1199 or 1299 but the evr cant?
 
What is your goal with the conversion? I’m gonna be labeled a heritic for this but what is the point of a dry clutch? A wet clutch lasts longer, is cleaner, guieter and just works better. Dry clutches are a Ducati legacy item that really serves no purpose anymore. The whole point of a dry clutch was to allow quick clutch changes on the grid when you burn up your clutch on a launch.

Do you just want a slipper clutch? Because on a 1299 it just isn’t necessary. The stock clutch with the EBS is actually really good. I can enter corners as well as my TZ250 which has no engine braking.

From what I’ve seen a dry clutch kit is around 3k. Not worth it in my book.
 
Domino it isnt for me. Im installing the EVR CTS wet slipper clutch into my bike tomorrow along with the factory pro shift kit. Thats why I was selling my ducabike pressure plate and ducabike retainer ring. Well Im not installing the EVR per say. I tried getting that 32mm nut off with a breaker bar today and couldnt do it. So my buddy is coming over tomorrow to do the work. Someone asked me about it. Originally he asked me to get him pricing on the STM dry clutch conversion kit. I gave him pricing and then thought of looking up to see what EVR has. So I looked up the EVR one. And as I wrote above it said for a 1199 and 1299 but it also stated for dry clutch models and the same thing was mentioned in the email. What Im not understanding is how do you make and advertise a dry clutch conversion kit for a 1199 and 1299 but say it wont work unless its for a model with a dry clutch. Then a few minutes ago I went back on EVR's site and saw they sell a dry cts slipper clutch system without the dry clutch basket. But it says you can use your original basket and it fits all Ducati models

As to why the conversion? I have no idea. Im guessing sound. He has a clear clutch cover on his bike right now. But if the EVR dry slipper system in the link above did actually fit into the original basket could he still use his clear clutch cover? Or would the dry clutch need air circulation?
 
I assumed the 1299R FE came with dry clutch like V4R. Assumed it would be fitted with LED headlights from the factory too but.. ya know.

I thought think dry clutch is neat but 650ib had to rebuild his at like 4,000 miles

Mechanically speaking a wet clutch and dry clutch aren’t that different. A wet clutch might have additional oil passages to help feed fluid to the clutch, but otherwise they operate the same. The biggest difference is in the friction material.
 
Years ago, when i had my GTI, the Volkswagen DSG had dry clutch and Porsche PDK was so much better bc it had wet clutches

Big sound from a Ducati dry clutch, I kinda like it. Some ppl say that 650ib’s is obnoxious
 
As Domino mentioned, if your bike came with a wet clutch then you need to stop the oil flow through the clutch hub output shaft. I don't know for sure on the newer big bikes like the 1199, 1299 but the 848, 1200, MS and hypers you have 2 ways to do it. 1 is a special made sealing hub nut. It has a landing built into it to accept the pushrod seal and the other is to replace a spring and ball set up under the front sprocket with a block off needle bolt. The DP kits used the block off needle bolt, kbike and a couple others used a special fancy sealing nut. Noone that makes a fancy sealing nut will sell them independently of their kits, I tried numerous time.

Thats nothing to an engineer, take your standard one to a machine shop for some mods
