Yep, no kidding! I was thinking the same. I did a .......ized approach and ran it to 8-9K through the gears, but didn't "run" it. One of the salesman at DucSea took his bike to the track a day after he bought it and ran the hell out of it. His dyno'd at 178hp w/ full-termi's and up map before a tune. After, 184hp.

Yeah, I used the progressiv ehard break in.

I really don't understand why people expect huge gains from an exhaust system

The biggest HP gains are engine tuning not exhaust fuel/air tuning mods. To get huge gains try tuning the engine i.e. get more compression by using high compression pistons/or piston porting, cam re-profiling/new cams and air intake mods will give you the biggest gains. The exhaust system will only get you about 3-10% of what the crank hp is putting out which is small compared to 20-40+ HP gains that of engine tuning. Larger racing exhaust are meant to handle the power from the engine tuning mods/air intake and wasn't meant for the stock engine. Putting a Race exhaust on a stock engine without tuning it is like putting a smart car engine in a corvette and expect to get 600 HP.

It's science, the more money I throw at it the faster it goes right????

I agree with you. I'm talking about baseline variability before tuning. Same model, same exhaust.

Well back to waiting on the akropovic... Pretty disappointing.

Akrapovic has a great reputation with all of their exhausts. Not to disregard the tune done to the slip ons here, that is great news! But I plan to wait on the Akra, I am sure it will be worth waiting for :D

I bought the PRO manifold because it's a complete plug and play solution for the R model specifically. A Bazzaz or maybe even the Ducati Corse race ecu will allow me to tune the engine but with cam timing and fuel mods we should see 200 hp no problem. I got 12 hp on my 1098 JUST from cam timing.

I have run Akrapovic on EVERY bike I have raced until this one. I love their fit, finish and quality and I have actually tested Akrapovic back to back with Termignoni on the 1098 and there was a +2 hp difference with the Akrapovic. I very well may end up with the Akrapovic but this PRO exhaust is legit and Attack was VERY impressed with the results on an essentially stock motorcycle.

I had ZERO problems passing any S1000RR anywhere, ha! So what more can one ask for fellas?

This IS good news.

great news on the PRO then RR! :) happy to hear this as , as you say , it is a DP product so should keep the warranty in place..

here, we're still looking into the SBK which is rumoured to give a boost between 5,5K and 8k over the PRO.. rumours also go to say that a stenghtened clutch will be needed.. with more power coming over wide rev range.. for the moment looks like a heavy decision as it's a Corse product that will stop warranty applying... grr....

A few questions .
I a, fitting up a pro manifold at the moment . There are three stick on heat shields any ideas where these belong ?
I gather the extra hoses are deleted considering I have no fan ?
Exhaust heat shield bolts to the subframe with huge holes did you use rubber grommets ?
There is also a small spacer . Any ideas ?
Thanks

That is simply awesome bud!!!!!!

Alright guys THIS is what you have been waiting for! Dyno run with 2013 Ducati 1199R, VP U4.4 fuel and BMC race air filter, Termignoni slip-ons with PRO manifold and PRO RACING map from Ducati.

189 HP and 95 ft/lbs of torque. That's without any tuning!

The bike made good power. It falls flat between 5-6,000 rpm, as expected - you can't get something for nothing, and again up top from about 10,500-redline, it's a twin. The mixture is okay between 6,000 and 9,000 rpm, but definitely too lean above and below that range. Overall the part throttle stuff is too lean as well.

I had my last race bike, the newer cross-plane crank R1 tuned at Attack last Summer with my YEC race ecu, same fuel and air filter and I got 174 hp and 85 ft/lbs so this is a big difference! Plus the 1199R is significantly lighter and thinner.

Quote, i suppose those nrs are rearwheel and no timing done yet... that could give quit a change still...( pic is base tune before and after timing done) SAE is pritty conservative mostly ... :) mine is on now, riding it first time with the pipe tomorrow at spa !

@kope999R, no cam timing done yet. Will do that soon. I did install a Bazzaz and I am having that mapped soon. I already noticed a change on the bottom. Will update soon.

I had a 12 hp difference on my 1098 race bike with cam timing alone! So, I am not surprised to see the BIG improvement from that.

Would you PM me the numbers you used for that?

@wilkson, the extra tubing replaces the existing tubing for the tank on the forward right side of the bike. Two small tubes are joined to one tube and routed down to the bottom of the bike.

The stick on heat shielding is used to protect the BBS unit in the tailsection (I used aluminum foil instead because it looks cleaner and fits better), another piece wrapps the back of the tank (I think there is a square hole in the middle) and the small thin piece is used on the lower right side rear part of the faring to prevent the manifold from melting the bodywork.

I didn't use rubber grommets but I did put some black metal spacers between the bots and the heat shield.

Also there are two bolts that are used to plug the holes in the head.

I asked my dealer to send me an install doc and they actually got one for me! So if you send me a PM with your email I'll forward that to you.

I will , the guy s on holiday now .. Waiting for him to get back to do them !

some photos of mine fitted-Base ABS model with fan still fitted. cut the rear header guard down as it was massive

Did you notice a big difference on mid range and does the fan still function well?

Thanks Roadracer for providing your personal feedback.... Since some time has gone by from the original post was started, what is your feedback with the PRO manifold as the year is winding down?

Also, I have a few questions that I was hoping you could provide feedback:
1.) Did the Pro Exhaust meet your expectations?

2.) Besides a air filter, exhaust, and tune, did you work cams/timing? If so, what type of performance gains were realized?

3.) I ride 50/50 track-road.. Can the fan be fitted in your opinion? Looks like others shared that it can be added but some adjustments must be done.. Just wanted to hear your thoughts as I consider updating my R....

Thanks for sharing your updates!! I have been part of this forum since Feb 2012. The experience and knowledge given from my Pani brothers has really helped me appreciate not only the bike but the sport!!!!

@thudson, I do really like the PRO exhaust and the bend of the header on the horizontal cylinder leaves little room for much else down there. The fan might be able to be fitted BUT when racing this bike I have noticed the temps on the dash rise and it sure could use that fan but I didn't try to make it work because Ducati says it can't so I trust them. I imagine it would melt. The PRO exhaust actually comes with a different manifold that is cut out around that exhaust to make the room needed.

I have a R with the PRO exhaust and a base. I JUST put a full Akrapovic on my base. I have not even ridden it yet but I have high expectations. The R came with the full termi and the associated map. The PRO mainfold comes with an additional map. I took the map from the full Termignoni and put that on the base with the Akrapovic.

I have not done cam timing. I have been waiting on info from Ducati Corse and will likely do this over the Winter. On my 1098 I got 10 HP with cam timing so it is well worth it! I have the PRO exhaust, BMC air filter, Bazzaz, VP U 4.4 fuel and dyno tuning. The dyno tuning yielded +2 hp and about the same torque but really cleaned up the curve on the bottom. The AFR ratio was all over the place before. 191 hp at the wheel is plenty :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response! I would like to see the difference in your Akra on the base vs the Termi on the R..

There is a reputable tuner in town that has race experience with tuning and engine builds for Ducati but not with the Pani. He attempted to do a tune this late summer. I worked with him to download the Tuneboy tune.. He had problems downloading the program to my bike so he had to manually attempt to tune himself with limited time. He did clean up the midrange as the bike runs smoother above 3000 rpms, pulls stronger at 5000 rpm, and eliminated backfires or popping... The bike showed 185 whp and 92 tq which was similar to my old S...

I know there is a little more in there which I hope the dealership can access.. I would be very satisfied to achieve a result like your 191. I will add the filter and possibly get the PRO exhaust. Since the bike is 50/50 street-track, I am still a little concern with overheating... Since it is winter in Mn, I have some time to research and determine if I update to the Pro manifold, Akra, or stay with full Termi's...

Thanks again for all your work and sharing with the group!
