Have a 1199s 2012, just went for a ride & the engine light turned on & no response from the accelerator? Has this happened to anyone?
Switched it off for 10 minutes & restarted, everything was Ok?
Have had a long history of issues with this bike since I bought IT back in 2012 brand new, but this is now the latest one.

Other existing issues bike randomly switches off but then restarts no problem.

Previous issues
Bike engine piston collapsed (Engine rebuild)15,000kms
New ECU installed to try rectify switching off made it a lot better but still occasionally turns off.
Tune boy installed with cruise control & launch control. Which switches of whilst I'm cruising on occasions.

Look forward to your ideas.

Cheers Rick

Glad you mentioned this, I’m looking at a 2012 1199S myself, but very hesitant due to it being the first year of the model. Is it recommended to possibly stay away from the 2012 1199s?

Just remembered I just changed the original air filter to a K&N filter could this cause the issue?

No

Might wanna clean n oil it tho

Does the bike seem n sound like it’s only running on one cylinder when the issue flares up or does it lose fire at cruise and just die? Both map sensors aren’t intermittently not working at the exact same time

Brand new air filter only done 50kms since.
Does not run any differently before or after engine light comes on & acceleration doesn't work, I have to wait a few minutes to clear the fault & I can go again. Went for a ride today just around my house for 5kms happened 3 times before I headed home.

When I read the first part of your post I said to myself that it sounded like a bug I had with Tuneboy, then what do you know. My issue happened on my street bike with the software before v6 tune+ cruise. Not sure if the version update or removing cruise for my track bike solved the issue but I haven’t had the issue again.

I'll order one & it give it a go.
Cheers
I wouldn’t say its that, if map sensor goes it relies on the other one, if they both go still does not effect the bike just get a yellow light. Map sensors operater @4k and below, after that signal comes from wheel speed and throttle. Ive had two go on mine and bike runs fine, just close your eyes when riding to ignore the yellow light. 90$ each btw

Interesting guys thanks for your posts, I will have to see with the mechanic if there are any Tune boy updates. Yesterday I plugged out the wiring harness injector plugs & made sure they were back in properly since this was the last thing I tampered with before this fault happened (changing the air filter), yet to give it a longer test ride it as we are in Covid lock down, it was Ok when I went for 10minute hack.
Anyone know good diagnostic software so that I can see if there is a error code in the computer stored, mechanic has 4 -5 week waiting period just to see if there is an error code.

Covid lock down? Riding a Panigale is an essential service.

Anyway- have you tried the MelcoDiag software program to trouble shoot bike?

Your right there.
No I haven't I will look it up and see where I can purchase it.
Thanks

I had some strange behaviour on my 2013 with MAP sensors (I don't think they're your issue BTW). When I was doing some fault finding, I found a pin on the plug into the ECU was higher resistance than the rest. I cleaned it with contact cleaner and a flossing stick and it came good with normal resistance. You can't test all the pins easily, but pulling both plugs from the ECU and cleaning them is simple enough without attempting to fault find ever sensor and wire that could cause the bike to turn off (I'm guessing a few more than one).

Thanks for the feed back, I found what was causing the bike engine light to come on and no acceleration it was the horizontal tps sensor wire which had been crushed at some stage of a mechanic working on it. Instead of repairing it properly they just taped it with Electrical tape which over time has come undone. Pics attached.

Thank you for sharing that, I’m about to purchase a 2012 1199S myself, and will be consulting this and other threads here for help with any possible issues that may arise.

I had this issue, but for me it usually happens after the bike gets wet, after a ride or out of a sudden, the engine light came in, and need to wait about 10min as well to be able to run again, if I start it it gas will not work.

Checked with melcodiag, a few months ago it was throwing APS error (fixed it with a APS reset with melcodiag), now is throwing TPS error ( P0120 Throttle Position sensor/switch A Circuit Malfunction, and just after a sudden rain on the street.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's the APS or the TPS, or something else, and if water have something to do in the formula.

In your case best option is to try a diagnostic software, you can google melcodiag, first result from jpdiag will give you all the instructions, keep in mind you will need some OBD reader and a cable adapter.
