Trauma, I went to the link you gave for the Omnia website, and see that it is in Italian (which I do not read or speak). Is there a US supplier that you can recommend? I see you are in St Louis, so did you buy them in the US, or straight from Italy? Did you need to buy an adapter kit that I have seen mentioned in regards to Marchesini wheel before? Thanks for the info.

Jim, it should give you an option to translate it to English at the top.

Ljuice26, I checked on the website, and cannot find a language selection option. Any suggestions, or what Italian word it may be that I don't recognize?

Once you select the wheel you want, the translation will be at the top. Looks like they only have glossy black.

Probably confusing because you need to look at the "No VAT" price as well, which isn't very obvious with the translate function.

Leon,

I love the look of the Checa OZ wheels. But considering you went top-end with the suspension on your bike, I would just save up/spend the extra to get CF wheels. You know as soon as you got the Aluminum wheels you would be thinking about how much unsprung weight you could have saved if you would have spent another $1,000.

I was at Yaman's shop earlier this week and changed the tire on the rear RBX2. It weighed 5.68 pounds for just the rear wheel on his digital scale. Compared to the Checa OZ wheels that is right at 3 pounds less, just for the rear wheel. It is at least another 1.5 lbs for the front. 4.5 pounds for the total wheelset is 28% less weight but the real story as you know is in the Moment of Inertia (MOI), which will be a much greater difference and the one you feel when riding the bike. Plus, the flexing properties of CF make it superior to Magnesium IMHO. Next time you're at Cycle Pro, ask Yaman to show you his wheel weight database. He's weighed the 1199 S wheels versus the BSTs for his 1098 vs the standard 1199 wheels vs. my rear RBX2 - all on the same scale in his shop.

Trauma - did you get any documentation with your Marchesini forged mags that you need to get them X-ray'd at around 10,000 km? That's my understanding. CF wheels don't have any such requirement.

If you're going to get Aluminum wheels, I would probably wait for an 1199 S-wheel set to show up, they're about 0.5 lb lighter per set than the OZ Piega and Marchesini M7Rs, and their used street price is actually a bit cheaper at around $1500-$1700.

But you know you'll only be happy with CF wheels - do it!

There is a small icon in the top right corner that says "English", click it. This is where I bought mine from, and I don't speak Italian either ;) They come with the kit to fit the 1199. It was $2215 delivered. It will discount further when you put it in your cart.

No I didn't get any Xray BS - that is not required or recommended - there is a whole thread here where the CF and Mag guys went back and forth at each other. I found plenty of CF failures on the net, and tracks that outlaw them. Not to mention they are fugly (IMO). It's just what you like the best, people aren't selling us things they could get sued over.

Interesting. I'm going to have to look for that thread. Used to belong to the R1 forum when I had a Crossplane, and the BST failure stories were pretty much debunked on various threads over 2 years there. Perhaps the mag/X-ray requirement was on previous-gen wheels, because I heard that from a reliable industry source only last year.

I really think both are fine, and both have their advantages/disadvantages, so I think it comes down to what you like. I only thought CF was for car body work until I got a Pani and joined this forum!

Here it is, please don't post and resurrect it

Trauma, are you sure they are available in Gold still, I still only see Lucido Nero (Gloss Black) as a sole option?

I will check, they tried to sell me gold - I still have the email thread. The only disadvantage of them for me, was they wanted to do Paypal instead of CC. I was concerned having never dealt with them, but someone else here had, and actually got the gold ones.

Exactly, I only see Lucido Nero. The Gold ones would look good.
