Does it really say "carbon look" on the wheel???..

They probably have to do that, for liability. Because someone may think think they are, and would be scared to ride it or allow it on their track :D I am thinking you could peel that off, like the pillow labels.

I would hope...that would look dumb otherwise...

I just received my Carlos Checa OZ wheels today. First thing I did was weigh the wheels - together they are 2 full pounds heavier than the stock S model wheel 16.5 pounds versus 14.5 pounds. This is NOT including the front wheel adapters (2) and stainless steel screws (10) that mount the adapters to the wheel, which adds at least another half pound (although at the center of the wheel). Of far more concern though, was when I went to install the adapters. The first side went on perfectly with a touch of blue loctite, and 30Nm of torque applied to the ss mounting screws - unfortunately, the other side had one of the threaded holes defective (my guess is the machinist failed to fully thread the hole). The result was an instantly galled and broken ss mounting screw. Even though I immediately tried to back it out (even using the back-and-forth "cha-cha" method) once it was clear there was a problem, it jammed solid in the hole, and the ss screw sheared off quite easily using an 8-inch Snap-On ratchet and very little torque. Word of caution here: if you feel ANY resistance to the mounting screw going in with no more than finger pressure, immediately and very carefully back it out before you shear it off - it may require chasing/rethreading the hole. Motowheels tells me they had never heard of this happening before - it figures I would be the lucky one who got the wheel Guido hurried through in his attempt to get the wheel done quickly. Quality wise - and I have not put a dial indicator on them as of yet - is they are absolutely beautiful. I look forward to seeing them on the bike.

Mine fit effortlessly. I did see the shop putting them on and they had no trouble with them. Also didn't need many wheel weights at all. Well balanced wheel. Even if they are 2 lbs heavier than S wheels, those 2 lbs pay their dues in beauty. Chicken feet wheels are horrible.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about the issue Jim. I'm sure Motowheels will make it right, at least I hope so.

Thanks for the details about the weight comparison, that is very interesting to see the difference.

doubleO, yours is the second reference I have read where there was no problem with the install. I am now thinking that after the bolt was extracted from the wheel that it was a poorly threaded adapter bolt that was most likely the problem as the shop said there was no visible problem with the threads once they removed the bolt (they did say it was really in there!!). I had a hell of a time getting the rotors fitted on the adapters as well, and basically had to force them on with the mounting bolts per instructions from Motowheels. I am guessing this set must have been mis-sized, or else the ID of my rotors is wrong. The rotor ID and the adapter OD (the lip where the rotors fit) were both 72mm making it a true interference fit - no additional clearance to ease installation - they had to be severely muscled on. I don't want to think of what will be required if the rotors have to come back off the adapters. All is on now, and they sure look good, and I agree on the balancing - my front required no weights to be perfectly balanced. Other than the looks and balance factors, just a poor experience overall for something this expensive.

Yea I feel you. That sucks man. I love the style of the wheel and would do it all over again, even if you can get marchesini mags for similar price. I like being different. OZ wheels are not around like Marchesini wheels are on our Ducati's and even more rare with the Carlos Checa replicas.

Glad they're on there and hope you don't have to remove them. That would be a pain!!
