Ducati Comfort Seat review

Right on que ... Complete with Carbon Fiber (look) here is a seat for XBOX and Gunny :)

BTW - I have the racing seat and the passenger comfort seat.

Isn't that a pity they only do covers and not seats. I'd love that one but if they think I'm pissing around with a staple gun and a needle and thread they are fkin mistaken! :D

Agree with Andy, the race seat is a much more appropriate seat for the 1199. And even more so if you're taller. The comfort seat pushes you forward and into the tank and while it has a nice gel seat, for most, it puts you in the wrong riding position for this particular bike. The race seat puts you a bit further back (or at least allows you to stay further back and not push you forward), which allows you to relax your arms/elbows while riding the bike. . .

I know why they have a comfort seat and why its selling. But IMO, its not the best choice out there.

My butt thanks me for the comfort seat but not sure if my wrists do... I think it puts a little more pressure on them. I'm curious about the race seat from what you guys are saying. Did I make the wrong choice? To bad dealers didn't have demo seats you could try before you buy.

I took mine back and swapped it as I ordered the race seat and got the comfort seat by mistake so once I tried it I was able to take it back (unused ahem...) and say hey what's this?

The race seat looks almost as high at the front but it squishes down after a few rides and the back is nowhere near as high, therefore doesnt pitch you towards the tank and onto your wrists. It's damn grippy too and looks pretty good although I'll admit the comfort seat is better looking.

The comfort seat has an issue for me, it would suit shorter riders who wouldn't get as much weight on their wrists but it's so high (3" higher than stock) shorter riders would be a lot more on their toes and we know how tricky that is.

Anyway race seat all the way for me, ignore the fact it feels stiff as hell for the first few days at the front, it soon beds in.

Not me! ive sold mine and had the stock seat re covered.

not trying to discredit this thread by any means but I agree with the above.

the height of the seat makes you feel less "in the bike" and more on top of it. also, felt it make it more difficult to allow for the rider to keep the weight on the balls of your feet and also put more pressure on your wrists (my wrists are really bad so take that into account). Also, I didn't care for the bulky look of the seat too.

Again, I'm not trying to take away from this post, but just wanted to contribute that for me, this seat didn't really offer up in the way of advantages.

I bought the comfort seat, used it for a couple of rides than switched back. I liked the comfort seat for the heat insulation and extra padding. But height made me feel like I was not on the bike. undecided at this point. will see when sargant comes out with theres..

Exactly. Comfort seat pushes you forward which means you'll be on your wrists on the bars more. Not a good riding posture/position unless you're short - and even then it works counter because its a "taller" seat. . . stock or race is a better option for most people, but comfort a) looks better with the two tone stitch and b) has a nice soft gel seat. So it looks good and feels good but for the wrong reasons.

I agree if I could find a stock height seat with a touch of padding and a grippy surface I'd swap to that as the stock seat had a better riding position I just got fed up with the nad to tank interface issues under hard breaking!

Right on

It seems like the comfort seat will suit the taller riders only , I rode the canyons today and no complaints I'm happy with my purchase of the comfort seat

Good for you brother! I have had the Comfort Seat on since day I got it and have ZERO complaints too. For some its not the seat for them and I respect that. Go by what works for you and not what someone tells you you should buy! When others say "this is what you are supposed to do" means very little. I rarely listen to these type since they know it all and want to impart "their" way onto you. The way things are suggested means more, like giving examples such as you did. Hence the saying "to each his own" correct? :D

Your right bro !! As long as am happy that's all that it matters lol I think we have a lot chef's the kitchen in this forum lol !! But I love this forum !!

Too many chiefs, eh ? Interesting. I guess if everyone just follows what the masses bought but didn't know the other options, everyone would still be good, huh ?

The problem is that most dealers are stocking the "comfort seat" because its aptly named, it looks good and that's what they are selling. What a few of us are saying is that you need to try out the seat options available to you and that the people who HAVE tried out the available seat options have /mostly/ come to the same conclusion that the race seat is the better overall seat for riding the 1199. The comfort seat appears to be an "upgrade" over the stock seat and is the one most people are familiar with, but those contemplating a seat purchase would benefit themselves from trying both of the aftermarket seats that are available if possible before purchase.

But apparently the couple people who HAVE tried both seats must be wrong in telling everyone else that there /is/ (or could be) a better option for some out there and to try it before deciding but people who have never tried it refuse to believe so ?? Just saying - try them both. The race seat is just about as comfortable as the comfort seat but positions you without forcing you toward/into the tank. But hey, people used to believe the earth was flat as well. . ..

Ha ha maybe, but I'm a chef that's ridden 200 + miles with all three seats, I know what works for me best.

I'm also the chef that got the third Tric in the UK early April has done 1500 miles, bolted each Ducati performance part on, by hand myself and so probably knows bugger all :D

Watch out for the chefs who still have their 1199 "on order" they really know their stuff!

Oh and the ones with pink grips on their tricolores!:D
