Ducati Comfort Seat review

I decided to go with the race seat its a little harder than confort sear but softer than stock seat however, the race is shape differently and it makes it more comfortable for me and the race seat does not give you the akward riding position I thought I was sold on the comfort but after hearing everyones opinions about the race I had to try it for my self and yes the race is better for me plus it doesn't slip like the stock or comfort seat IMO the race seat is the way to go lol btw I'm 5"11

Damn. I need to stop by a local dealer and try the race seat then. I currently have the comfort seat and hate how tall it is. Thanks for the quick reply.

Yea mannn I know how you feel the race is better the comfort it makes you feel to tall on the bike !! You won't be disappointed with the race seat !! You should go get it !!

Done and done. I can attest to what people are saying here. I'm 5' 7'' and now have tried stock, comfort and race. Conclusion - I like the position of stock slightly more, but everything else sucks. It hard as a rock and slides around all over the place.

Comfort is way too tall and sits you all high up. I can barely touch the ground with it.

Race is the best compromise. Not as tall as comfort but a hell of a lot better in position and way more comfortable then stock. I just wish it was slightly lower. Both for body position and looks.

So for now, the race wins.

Right on que ... Complete with Carbon Fiber (look) here is a seat for XBOX and Gunny :)

BTW - I have the racing seat and the passenger comfort seat.

By the way, I've got the Luimoto seat cover on my stock seat hoping it'd make it less slippery....but nope. The fake suede material is pretty slippery as well.

I cut my race seat down about an inch, it about right now.

With the seat cut down an inch does it still retain the comfort properties which makes it better seat than stock? I'm thinking of doing the same but maybe about 1/2 an inch to be on the safe side.

race seat folks, which one of these looks more correct and accurate; asking if the logo is visibly white or not:

seat A

or

seat B

They are the same. The one with the white lettering was a product shot that never shipped.

The first one is the one I have.

jc - aren't you happy we gave you a hard time over it and you arrived at the same conclusion as the rest of us after trying all three seats ? Everybody gets the comfort seat because its the one that sounds best and the one the dealers carry (and most of us end up buying to try first). But the race seat is the one that most everyone (not all I'm sure) who has tried them feels is the better option for seat position. . ..

Glad you gave in after and got it and ended up with a better solution than the one you were previously all too happy to have.

after 2500 miles i just tried out different seats and have the race seat on now. comfort seat just seemed too high

the race seat is fantastic. i find it more comfortable than stock and the slipping around a bit i found with stock all gone - very pleased with race seat and would thoroughly recommend it

Isnt there a fake suede and fake carbon available? Probably no difference in them unless you were to get that quilt looking one which looks like a recliner.

Haha, yeah even if that thing gripped like sandpaper not sure I could put that on my bike.

Not sure about the carbon one, when I ordered all I saw was the one in the pic further up the thread with fake suede on the seat and vinyl on the inner thigh area.

I concur with the concensus...the race seat is the way to go. I, too, prefer the positioning of the stock unit bue the slipping and sliding make it the least comfortable of the group.

Rode with the race seat for 400 hundred miles yesterday. Heat is almost a non issue with both the race seat and the comfort seat. The extra height is enough to distance you away from the cylinder head. In terms of on the bum comfort, the comfort is still softer, but the race seat is acceptable.

300 hundred is about the near maximum I can do on the race seat in 1 day. This is compared to doing a 200 on the stock seat and waiting to go to the hospital afterwards. :)

This topic has been beat to death and could go back and forth forever with opinions.

Not sure where you're getting "back and forth" from reading this thread. Actually very few have gone back once they've gone to the race seat. Not saying there aren't any or won't be any, but its few and far between (and I haven't heard any yet). I don't believe anyone in this thread who said the comfort seat is best has tried the race seat - and many who said the comfort seat was best and tried the race seat have now said the race seat is both ergo and positionally better.

I count 7 people on here who have tried the race and comfort seat and all of them give the nod to the race seat. 3 of them are converts from this thread alone.

Thats hardly what I call back and forth. That sounds like a overwhelming consensus to me to people who have experienced the options available to them.

the comfort seat is not so tall that it distances you from the heat. it just isn't that tall. i have the comfort seat. it's still hot most times. it's the gear i wear that makes the different, not an inch. those you get blisters with the stock seat will be disappointed if they purchase a comfort seat in order to beat the heat.

Comfort seat put too much pressure on my wrist's bringing me back to my 848evo/1098 days which worried me so i took the cover off, got the hack saw, rubber cement, and staple gun... I ended up with in my opinion is the best seat for me. It flatter like the 848 but with just right amount of comfort. Before the narrow edge really put a hurting on the boys after an hour or so. Also the flatness of it gives my leg a wider/grippier spot when leaning the bike since its already a tiny motorcycle.

Digging up this thread eight years later! I just bought a preowned low-mile 2012 1199S with a comfort seat installed. I did 200 miles today on the bike, and it was a very painful experience. I’m 6 foot three, and the comfort seat has me way forward on my wrists which are very sore after the ride. In addition, the comfort seat is not at all comfortable for me. It’s too soft and it doesn’t provide enough support. I could see how this would suit a smaller person but not me. Would anybody want to trade their race seat for my comfort seat? Just message me if that sounds good to anybody here.
