Think Polaris RZR XP Turbo S
Ducati has some pretty interesting product history outside motorcycles. Electrical components, shavers, radios etc. Now with motorcycles, there's riding gear and more accessories than you can think of. Ducati is so much more than just motorcycles.
Ducati is a community. A way of life. A feeling. The heart of Italian design and engineering that is shared with the rest of the world. An attention to detail and precision that is unmatched.
It's an odd thought, and I can understand the resistance, but what would it take to make a Ducati side by side? Sure someone could whip up a Frankenstein vehicle in their garage, but what would you, the Ducati rider, want to see?
For me, I love off roading. I've raced within the U.S. and will occasionally participate in Baja. I love motorsports. I love that sound, the smell, the rush of adrenaline tingling through my body and on top of that I'm always excited to make new friends I can call family. I also love Ducatis. Ducati used to race Dakar and are now producing more and more bikes better suited for the dirt than ever before.
Today, many motorcycle manufacturers are making side by sides(Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Can Am, Polaris) and many off road race organisations are creating classes for them. Score International (Baja 1000 race org.) and even Dakar this year! I would love to see Ducati produce a side by side. And in Ducati fashion there would be a full race SXS and then the production models that follow. They would dominate their classes, look super sexy(not like the overly stylized SXS's today), and attract a different revenue source for the company. I know what I might like to see, but I was curious what it would take to sell a Ducati SXS to you. What would get the Ducati Motorycle rider to buy an off road SXS? What features, what kind of feeling?
If you're not the off road type, what kind of Ducati SXS could get you out and about and change your mind? I'd love to hear your input. Grazie!
