So I'm a huge Motul fan and was wondering if the Ducati relationship with Shell is more a business/marketing thing, or is this Shell oil factory fill oil on my new V4 all that? I'm thinking of switching to Motul 300V... any thoughts?

I think its funny how the manufactures say you need a particular brand. like we are all so simple minded not to know the oil all comes from the same place.
(a refinery and most oil companies don't own a refinery) and are blended to meet the manufactures requirement then bottled and badged.
(yes even synthetic oils come from the same source)

understanding synthetic oil vs conventional synthetic oils hold up to punishment longer than reg oil.
Polyalphaolefin <-- most synthetic oil is from this
conventional oil <- Polyalphaolefin (synthetic oil) is made from this
ester based <-- chemically formulated few companies make their syn oil from this usually it is an additive.
any mix of the three

KTM and Husqvarna are the same company and yet KTM requires MOtorex And Husqvarna requires bel-ray. Its laughable.

any good motorcycle specific brand that meets the JASO rating and also Meets the Viscosity Rating will do awesome in your bike.

Ducati Shell is no different or Better than Motul, Mobil 1 etc.. I only use Motul 300V because of sponsorship deal, if not I would probably buy a cheaper oil because I change it so that often!! Buy what makes you happy and gives you piece of mind..
